Sighing, Charles looked out of his car window as he drove on the way to see his former love, Camilla. It was a strange feeling knowing that this was the last time he would drive down this road.

Between him and Diana everything was different now, everything was better than ever before. This time they were a real couple with real feelings together, unconstrained by the crown. But for the first time it bothered him that he was still officially with Camilla and he wanted to change that now. Charles hadn't spoken to Camilla since their vacation, which was a very long time by his standards, but he wanted to prove to Diana that it was worth the effort to be able to trust him with her heart again, but he also knew that this wasn't possible until He had broken up with Camilla and today decided to end it once and for all.

Really to separate and probably so difficult for him to break off contact with her so that he is no longer tempted to get involved with her again.

As much as his father told him that Diana was the right and only woman for him, his mind still thinks about his last great love and he wanted to suppress that forever for Diana's conscience.

Instead of the usual greeting kiss on the lips, this time Charles kissed her tenderly on her forehead.

"Fred, I haven't heard from you in a long time." Camilla looked at him with slightly worried eyes as she hugged her silk scarf a little tighter to protect herself from the sun. She knew that if Charles didn't contact her for so long, it had mostly something to do with Diana. "Was something with Diana?" Camilla asked with slight curiosity, hoping that he agreed and that perhaps Diana had just caught a cold and Charles had taken care of her. But saw in the emotions in his eyes that it went deeper.

"We can't see each other from today Camilla."

Camilla briefly looked at the Crown Prince in disbelief. "Did your mother say something...?"

Charles interrupted gently, shaking his head. "I want to give Diana a real chance and work on becoming a real family again and I can't do that." "When I'm in the know." Camilla finished his sentence and Charles nodded with tears in his eyes and respectfully kissed Camilla's hands. "I'm so sorry Milla."

Camilla gave him a light kiss on the corner of his mouth. "You want to be there for your family and the woman you love. There is no need to apologize." She hugged him carefully while smiling sadly as Charles tenderly kissed her hair.

"You know how much I loved my years with you." Charles spoke quietly with guilt.

"Just like I do with you, your highness." Camilla gave him a cautious curtsy that reflected the sign of their separation. "What do you plan to do now, my prince?" Camilla asked with suppressed emotions but also mixed curiosity.

"Get Diana a ring and propose to her that she deserved the first time." Charles said nervously and Camilla held his hand reassuringly as a sign that everything would be okay.

"I hope she appreciates having you as a husband."

Charles smiled slightly "she does. I proved to her on vacation that she can do it." He gave Camilla a slightly protective hug goodbye with a gentle kiss on her cheek. "Take care Gladis." He returned to his car and drove to a blacksmith, to whom Charles gave the design of a ring with eleven brilliant and one delicate pink innocent diamond. He remembered the joke he had mistakenly made about Diana picking out her first engagement ring and saying it in a teasing tone. -of course the most expensive.

Which he still feels guilty about today.

Charles would spend any money in the world to see her and the boys happy. Now he just had to think of how to propose to Diana and this time it should be a proposal that really deserved her and came from the heart and he also had to tell her that his relationship had ended once and for all for Camilla.

As evening approached, Charles held the Perfect Ring in a velvet box in his hands, looking as innocent and radiant as his wife, and drove back to Kennsington Palace, where he had lived with his little family since the end of his vacation. Until now, Charles couldn't figure out why it bothered him to live with his family before. It was their family time together, for which they had previously had far too little time together and now he really wanted to make up for this time.

Charles went to the family room and saw Diana eating a portion of strawberries and snuggling on the couch while she looked at Cinderella and Charles gave her a careful kiss on her hair.

"Where have you been so long?" Diana asked curiously.

"With Camilla," Charles answered honestly and saw her eyes fill with tears.

"You promised, no more..."

Charles raised his hand to gently interrupt her. "To finally separate from her. We are no longer a couple, not even friends anymore. From today on, Camilla belongs to our past."

Diana sighed with relief and trusted his words for the first time without demanding proof whether his words were the truth and trusting her naive heart and looked confused at Charles as he pressed pause on her fairy tale and took her hand in awe.

"I know. I wasn't always the husband or prince you hoped for and I still hate every time I hurt you and I want to change that this time. I'd like to turn back time and start over again "My regrets are not possible and so I would like to ask you. Lady Diana Frances Spencer... Would you like to do me the honor of marrying me a second time?"

Charles had knelt in front of her and held out the pink engagement ring to her, which Diana looked at in awe with her big eyes and nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, Charles." And hugged him with beaming enthusiasm, "Yes!"

Charles spun her around laughing and tenderly put the new engagement ring on her and they both kissed each other with careful love with the hope that everything will be different and better from now on.
