Chapter 10: It's me!

You jolt and turn back.

"Wh-who are you?!"

The silhouette turns on a flashlight.

" - Frederic?!

- [Y/n]? What are you doing here?

- I-I..."

You burst out in tears while explaining to him how you got stuck in the Mazercise.

"Hey, don't worry, I'm here for you now. Everything's going to be okay."

He gently hugs you. You feel surprised but hug him back tightly, desperately in need of comfort in the darkness surrounding you.

"First of all, we need to get out of here. Follow me."

His soft voice makes you feel better. You nod and get up, following him through the maze. You finally exit the hellish spiral.

" - I don't know what I would have done without you.

- Don't worry, I am here for you now. I think Sundrop is still awake, let's go and meet him."

You walk down the hallway and slide once again into the pit, accompanied by your new friend.

" - Hello again, my friend! It is very late, you know? How about you slip on your pyjama?

- Sundrop, they don't have a pyjama.

- What?! I'm sure I can find you one that will fit you. Wait for me here!

- Sun, I don't need a pyjama.

- What are you going to do then? Stay awake until the morning comes? That's great! We can finger paint, tell stories, drink Fizzy Faz until our heads ex-PLODE and stay up all night!

- No thanks, I pass.

- Don't you want a puppet show? I-I have glitter glue! Ya like glitter glue? Googly eyes?

- No Sun, I do not want a puppet show either.

- Come on, Sundrop. Can't you see you're annoying them?

- Oh, come on! We could have so much fun-"

You accidentaly bump into a pile of boxes, causing them to fall.

" - Oh, no, no, no! What a mess! Oh, which one was at the bottom? Where is the top? Clean up! Clean up!

- I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to!

- Rrrrrggh... clean up! Clean up!"

You try to run away from the daycare attendant.

"[Y/n], wait-"

You smash into a wall and turn the lights off by accident.

"No-NO! Why would you do that? Lights on, lights on! I-I warned you- I WARNED YOU!"

Sundrop falls to the ground and transforms into his nightmarish alter-ego: Moondrop.

" - Naughty boy/girl/kid... Naughty boy/girl/kid... It's past your bedtime. You must be punished! Nighty-night~...

- Hurry up, [Y/n]! We need to get into the playpen!"

He grabs your arm and runs with you into the childish attraction. Once you are deeply hidden into it, he finally stops and starts whispering.

" - Now, listen to me. There are five generators in there that we need to turn on to bring the power back and stop this madness. We are going to split up. The playpen is cut out into three sections: the left playpen, the middle one and the right one. I exactly know where those generators are. There is a generator on the left on the top floor, three generators in the middle with two on the top and one on the bottom floor and one generator on the right on its bottom floor. For now, Moondrop will stay out of the playpen, but once the third generator is activated, he will look for us in there, so we'll have to be extremely careful. This is my plan: I'll take care of the left generator and the two in the middle on the top floor. You'll have to place yourself on the bottom floor in the middle section of the playpen, then rush to the left and activate the last generator. Understood?

- How are we supposed to communicate?"

He hands you a Faz-Watch.

" - Take it. It works like a walkie-talkie.

- Thanks. But what if he catches you?

- Don't worry about me. My top priority is to make sure you'll be safe, okay?

- Please, take care of yourself.

- I will. Now, go!

- Bad children must be punished..." Moondrop whispers.
