Screams and cries for help, blood and burning flesh, begging voices, desperate pleas.

Chaos. Terror at every turn. Madness in every sight. The walls crumbled, crashing down. The earth trembled and shook, throwing bodies left and right. The heat rose; it suffocated. It shocked and swallowed breaths whole.

Fye...You're our only hope.

Yes, she was. Who was left? No one. Not a human or dragon in sight. Not a single living creature. Everyone was gone. Even she, dressed in glorious armour, failed to feel life in her blood. Upon her gleamed ferocious eyes, terrifying in nature, split with slanted pupils. Rough scales, oxidized like rust, crackled as they shook. His breath reeked of ash and burned hot, smoking the sweat on her skin.

Fye kneeled facing the dragon, defeated. Surrounding her were friends, mentors and siblings; surrounding her were bodies, memories of those she swore and failed to protect.

"Eldrylth," she rasped. It rose, flying to the planet's atmosphere and imposing a shadow on the land. Curled around his body, two slithering women laughed gleefully, watching as the world fell apart.

Fye still hadn't moved. She had no strength or spirit left to cry out...to hope.

She had nothing left. There was nothing left.

Her eyes pooled with tears, crying the desolation her mouth could not. And she froze there, silent as the flames swallowed her whole.

"And I thought Lumus was dramatic."

"Excuse me? You're the dramatic one here."

"I'm not! Right, Lussios?"

"Don't bring me into it."

Lunaris huffed, arms wrapped around her legs. Sitting at her left, Lumus laughed, finding joy in her defeat. But Lussios could only sigh and hide further into his chair, tucking the edge of his hood over his face. He wasn't used to seeing the sun and quickly decided he didn't enjoy the extra light.

"Good morning, children."

"Good morning, Master Caedos!"

Lunaris, as usual, jumped into his arms, delighted to see the man. Despite the years, he hadn't aged a day and looked as young, if not younger, than before. They all did. Caedos sat at the table with them, looking at his friend, who had been calmly drinking his tea. Their eyes met, bringing smiles to their faces.

"Your eyes are still lovely as ever," Caedos said. The man, whose gaze softened at the compliment, replied with sweet words.

"And I see your charming smile has yet to fade."

"If we could avoid an excuse to use violence this morning, that would be delightful," someone interrupted. Everyone turned, greeting the next brother, who came downstairs. Nexus scowled at them and walked past the table straight for the coffee on the counter. Pouring himself a hefty cup, he drank most in a swig. It wasn't much to expect from him. He did the same every morning without fail. Were they concerned for his health? Possibly. Then again, Nexus was alive and breathing. A little irritable but alive, nonetheless.

"Why is everyone awake so early?" he asked the group.

"It's well past noon, brother."

Nexus ignored Caedos, expecting an answer to his question. Lunaris jumped in. "Ember was telling us about the Great Defeat."
