Harley POV

"April can you keep an eye out for an hour or so. There isn't anyone booked in and I really need to get this paperwork sorted"
"Of course boss"
I walk into the office and sigh as I sit down to deal with the mountain of work. Ryan was supposed to help me but he is having more issues at home so he took a personal day. So I'm here by myself again, luckily we aren't as busy but it's getting to be a habit now and I don't know how much more I can take.

After 30 minutes I hear a knock on the door and I groan "really april, half an hour. There can't be an emergency surly"
I look up and see Chris standing there "no emergency"
I nod and get out of my seat to walk around the front of the desk. I lean against it and cross my arms.
"What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to talk. You wouldn't let me explain on the phone so..."
"There is nothing to explain Chris, really it's fine and I'm super busy so...."

"Harley those photos weren't what they looked like okay. Ellie is..."
"Chris, we went on one date. It's fine"
"Your not even going to listen to me?"
I sigh "I've been hurt so many times chris, trust is hard for me so I'm glad this happened before things got serious with us."
"Harley.....believe what you want. I'm done trying to explain"
And with that he storms out of the office, I just can't risk my heart.

Chris POV

I storm out and back onto the shop floor I see April looking and she smiles sadly at me.
"She not listening?"
I shake my head "April, I haven't done anything wrong. She just won't listen"
"She's stubborn Chris, she's had to be. Her whole life people have used her and hurt her and she closed her heart off for good a long time ago. It's a mission to get her to open up to anyone"
"What am I meant to do?"
"I don't know. Just leave it for a while, let her chill out and hopefully you can talk with her then"
I nod and say my goodbyes before heading out, there just isn't anything I can do to get her to listen so I'm going to take Aprils advice and let things lie for now.

Harley POV

1 month later

"April?"
I walk over to the front desk and she looks up from her phone.
"Look" she says as she passes me her phone, I see an article with the words "Ellie Peters, much loved Boston Actress comes out as gay, after hiding it from the world for years"
I look at April and she scrolls down to a picture of Ellie and when I see it my heart nearly stops.
It's the woman chris was photographed with a month ago, he was telling the truth and I didn't listen.

"God I feel like a bitch"
"Hmmmmm"
"What do I do?"
"Contact him and apologise"
I nod "yeah your right"
I grab my phone and open up a text message to him
'Hi Chris, it's Harley. I know you probably don't want to talk to me but I've seen the article for your friend and I'm so sorry. I should have believed you and trusted you and I didn't. I'm sorry I hurt you and I hope one day you can forgive me'
I press send and tuck my phone away before continuing with the rest of my day.

I can't believe I didn't even let him explain, I may have lost one of the best things that could have ever happened to me.
