Chapter 9

Nancy's pov

Nancy jolted up when she heard a knock on her front door. She looked at her alarm clock," Who the hell is here at 2 in the morning?" She looked through her closet,grabbing her handgun before walking down the stairs and to the front door. She quickly opened the door and pointed the gun at the person at the door,before lowering it.

" Robin? I almost shot you!" Nancy looked Robin up and down," You know,with what I'm about to talk about,that would've been better. It would have been better than you telling the town that I'm a freak." Nancy's eyes filled with sympathy for Robin,so she pulled Robin inside of her house," Alright,talk to me."

" I know you saw me and Vickie at the fair.",Robin started nervously,her leg bouncing up and down. Nancy put a hand on Robin's thigh," Robin,it isn't like that. I'm not mad at you for liking girls." Robin's leg stopped bouncing. "Then why did you leave?"

" I- had things on my mind.I just couldn't stay."Nancy sighed,she wish she could tell Robin the whole truth,but how would she take it?Would she stay friends with Nancy?Even if she did stay friends with her,Robin had her eyes on Vickie. "Are you okay now,Nance?"

Nancy felt tears building up in her eyes," I-I'm not sure." Her voice broke as she finally let her tears out. Robin wrapped her arms around Nancy. Nancy put her head on Robin's shoulder,sobbing into it. "Robin?"

"Yeah?" Robin loosened her grip on Nancy. "Could you stay here tonight?" Robin smiled at her," Of course I can." Nancy grabbed Robin's hand,leading her up the stairs. The two reached a door in the hall,Nancy then turned the door knob to reveal a pink room with a small bed near a night stand. "Wow,looks much cleaner than the upside down version."

Robin flopped onto Nancy's bed," So soft!" Nancy let out a laugh," That was cute." Robin looked up at Nancy,but decided to ignore what she just said," Get over here,Nancy!" She sat down on her bed,laying her head on a pillow," I know this sounds random,but how are you and Vickie doing?" Robin turned her head towards Nancy,and that's when they both realized how close they were sitting to each other. "I'm not sure,I should probably talk to her." Nancy felt a pit in her stomach,like each time Robin talked about Vickie or the two showed some form of affection. Nancy had a look of disappointment," I'm glad you found someone you like so much." Robin smiled at her," I'm glad that you feel better."

Nancy turned to the ceiling,her thoughts now spiraling in her head. When would she tell Robin about her feelings? Would Robin decide to date Vickie after talking with her? A voice pulled her out of her thoughts," Nance,you alright?" Robin playfully waved a hand in Nancy's face,a smile spread across her lips," Yeah. I'm still thinking about the breakup." It had been a while since she thought about it,if she was being honest. All she thought about was Robin. She just wishes that she could like her back,that then sparked an idea,what if she and Robin got Max and El together? That would be a great thing for all four of them,Robin and her could bond,and El would get Max.

 "Hey,Robin,El told me something the other day.",Robin turned towards Nancy,an eyebrow raised with confusion. "Was it something about that squirrel? Mr.Fibbly?" She chuckled,looked at Robin admiringly,"No,it was not about Mr.Fibbly,but good guess. It was about Max." Robin's eyes lit up," She's getting better?" Nancy shook her head," Well,no. But El is there to keep her company and help her. She would be even better at doing it if they were dating."

" No way!El likes Max?We should set them up on a date!",Robin shot up with excitement," After we go to sleep. Remember you woke me up at 2AM to talk to me?" Nancy put her hand on Robin's shoulder to gently lay her back down on the bed. Her hand stayed there for a few seconds,even after Robin's back was back on the bed. Nancy only seemed to notice when Robin looked at her and then her hand. "Sorry." She nervously laughed at Robin,reluctantly taking her hand off. Nancy put her head on one of her pillows,laying back down.

"Goodnight Robin-",Nancy looked over to where Robin was laying down,she was now asleep. She smiled,closing her eyes. She finally got to hang out with Robin again after all those weeks,even if she didn't return romantic feelings for Nancy,it was something.
