Chapter 19

Nancy's pov
Nancy grabbed her boxes full of things,dropping them into the back of her car. Robin had driven over to Nancy's place an hour before,making this moving process easier for her. "I'm a bit nervous for college,you are too,right?" Robin turned to face Nancy,nodding at her. "It's just that I thought I'd be going with Jonathan,and I thought we'd go to class together,support each other,and be honest with each other. But he lied about his college application,which I don't get. Why couldn't he just tell me the truth? I just don't get it"-Nancy paused-"I'm sorry for talking about all this stuff with Jonathan when we're about to leave for college. I should just-" Robin interrupted her,"No,you should be able to talk about it. That's a good reason to be nervous. You could talk more about Jonathan,if you want." Nancy gave Robin a soft look,"Thank you."

The two of them had driven for hours,Robin expected to see some things on the drive,so she brought her Polaroid camera,snapping pictures when they passed lakes and bridges. "Look at that!" She smiled widely,making Nancy smile as she followed Robin's finger,which was pointed towards a squirrel in a tall tree. "Are you enjoying this?" She nodded,"I love squirrels and I'll get to take these pictures to my dorm. This camera may have cost a lot,but it was worth it."

Robin snapped a quick picture of Nancy,"Hey!" She grabbed the camera,quickly snapping a picture of Robin,"Payback." Nancy smirked at Robin. She grabbed the camera,holding it far back,away from Nancy,"I don't think you can reach that,Nance." She pouted at Robin,"Atleast take a picture of us." They both posed for the picture,Robin stuck out her tongue and Nancy put up a peace sign. "I think you can keep this one." She smiled at Robin,"Really?Thank you,I love this one."

As the sky turned dark,Robin started to yawn. "Should we get motel room?" Nancy pulled a blanket out of the back for Robin,rubbing her shoulder softly.After half and hour of driving, Nancy pulled into the parking lot of a small motel,gently shaking Robin to wake her up. She let out a quiet groan,sitting up in her seat. Nancy smiled softly at Robin,"Let's go in."

The two girls walked into the motel,greeted by a rush of warm air. Nancy forced a smile as she walked to the desk,"May we get a room?" The receptionist handed them a set of keys,practically shooing them away and rolling her eyes after. Robin held in a giggle as they walked down the hallway,"That was a very nice receptionist."

Nancy plopped onto a bed,some habit she had learned from Robin,who decided to jump onto her bed. "I can't wait to see the campus tomorrow. And I'm especially excited to see my dorm room." Nancy turned to Robin,"Isn't housing expensive? I remember you said you were 'poor'." Nancy smirked at Robin,"Alright,shut up! I'll admit it,I may have lied when I said that. I just didn't want to drive a bunch of teenagers around,and I didn't want to leave you with Steve,of all people. I wouldn't trust him with the detective work we did back there." Nancy smiled fondly at the memory,she may had been annoyed when she first went to the library with Robin,but she grew to like the memory as they grew closer. " You're right about that. I bet Steve wouldn't be able to wrap his head around all the stuff that we learned."

After a few hours of messing around and talking,the two girls turned on the small TV,the screen flashing with the image of Tom Cruise flying a plane,it was the diet Pepsi commercial. Robin held in a giggle,"I bet you're wishing you brought your Tom Cruise poster." Nancy's face turned red," How do you still remember that? I'll be making sure to burn that poster when I visit Hawkins." She muttered the last part to herself. "Don't you have a Marylin Monroe-" Robin was quick to interrupt Nancy," Don't disrespect Marylin Monroe like that! She was an amazing model." She smirked at Robin,"I got you back,that's all that matters."

Robin had somehow ended up on Nancy's bed,her brown curls draped over Robin's shoulder. She gave Nancy a soft peck on the forehead before laying down and pulling the covers over the both of them. "Goodnight Tom Cruise simp." Nancy bit back a smile as she chuckled,"Shut up."
