Fourth's pov:

  “Baby...baby wake up” I whispered Gem's ear.

“Hmm...thats tickly...what is it Love?” Mornings don't usually agree with Gem, he wakes up groggy and moody, but there isn't anything a cuddle and a cup of coffee can't solve.

“It's our eighth year anniversary!” I raised my voice ever so slightly so he would wake up.

“I know we've been super busy lately with everything going on, you know, my brother getting married and your brother having kids. I just feel like we haven't had a lot of 'us' time, and I miss it. ”

“Awh sweetie” Gem mumbled, rubbing his eyes “I feel the same way, I miss our alone time.” He smiled slyly, fully awake now.

“So...that's why I planned us a trip on a cruise ship, for.one.whole.week...
just us...alone...” he wiggled his eyebrows at me “I'll make sure to pack extra condoms”

“Gem!” I smacked him with the corner of the tie I was putting on “Thanks for booking the trip, but you have to promise to be gentle this time, remember the last time we did this I couldn't walk properly for two weeks!”

I scooched over to where he was sitting and sneaked a kiss on the nape of his neck.

“I can't promise you anything babe, you just always know how to make me want you even more ”

He pushed himself off the bed and made his way to the bathroom, but as he was walking, he froze in place, almost like he forgot something, then retraced his steps to where I was sitting and cupped my cheeks in his palms. “Happy eight years baby” He gave me a big smooch right on the lips, a bit too hard cause I could kinda taste metal...

“Babee...” I whimpered as I pushed his face away “That hurtt” I pouted ever so slightly and looked up at him with watery eyes.

“Sorry...I couldn't control myself” he murmured while he leaned back down and licked the remaining blood off my lips with the tip of his tongue “I just can't help myself, you look so scrumtious in the morning”

“Gemmm!” I giggled “Go wash your face! I'm going to make breakfast”

“Okay i'm going i'm going” He whined as he turned to make his way back to the bathroom. I found this the right moment to reach out and slap his ass.

“Fourth” he yelped as he turned back to look at me “stop being naughty or I'll make you pay!” He waggled his finger at me and I stuck out my tongue.

“Okay Okay, go wash now, after that I'm gonna start packing for our trip!” I shooed him back to the bathroom and got busy in the kitched frying a couple of eggs for breakfast while the kettle boiled.

It didn't take long for Gem to finish showering, and I can tell he's walking towards me cause I can smell his aftershave and hear him humming our song.

“It smells delicious, thank you baby” A warm hand snaked it's way around my waist and his breath was warm against my neck.

“Go sit down, I'll make you a cup of coffee”He hummed in my ear as his aftershave wafted into my nose, a smell I know all too well.

Gems pov:
I can't believe it's been eight years. We were only sixteen when we first got together, and no-one thought it would last, but I had already made up my mind at that time that he was the person I wanted to protect my whole life.

Marriage has been in my head for some time now. We both have stable jobs at the same hospital, and all our siblings are either having children or getting married.

I just don't know how and when to pop the question. That is if he's willing to spend the rest of his life with me, someone that totally does not deserve the angelic being that he is.

Although it is true, I don't want him realising this, cause he would leave me for sure, and I'm so selfish I want him for myself forever.

“Gem? Gem! Are you listening?” Fourth's voice brought me back to reality.

“Wuh..wuh..what?” I mumbled, unable to shake off the thought that Fourth might leave me for someone else someday.

“I was just asking you which robe I should take” He pointed at our bed, with clothes strewn all over it, and a half open suitcase lying on the floor.

“Oh honey, you look amazing it either, so why don't you bring both?”

“Okay!” he smiled at me, one of his heart-melting smiles. One of the things I can't live without.

“Babe...I need to talk to you” Why did my voice sound so uneasy and scared?

“Of course, what's on your mind Love?” He put down a shirt of mine he was folding and stood in front of me “Is this really serious? Do I need to sit down?”

“Wuh..no...I'ts just” I took a deep breath and reached into my back pocket.

“I've been thinking for a long time now...and I think this is the right time. So Fourth...” I got down on one knee.

“Will you make me the happiest man alive by...marrying me?” the box clicked open, and in there lay two ornamental silver bands, which I got made specially to fit on our fingers.

“G..gem...are you asking me to marry you?” he whispered breathlessly.

“Y...yeah” I lost my confidence, not knowing if this was good or bad.

Suddenly, a warm body barrelled into me, slinging his arms around my neck and peppering kisses on my face.

“Yes yes yes yes yes! Gem, do you know how long I've been waiting for you to ask me this? I actually...” his voice trailed off as he pulled a small box out of his pocket.

“I actually was going to ask you as well...but I guess you beat me to it.” He lifted the lid, showing me two beautifully cut rings, one with the engraving 'g' on it, the other one with an intricate 'f'.

“This one is for you” he handed me the one with 'f' on it “You can wear my name everywhere you go”

My eyes welled up with tears when I saw this, I was so scared that he was going to say no, that he doesn't love me as much as I love him. I love him so much.

“Baby...” he was shocked to see me cry “Why? what's wrong?”

“I...I don't know...” I whispered through muffled tears “I was just...so worried that you might say no”

“Gem” he said in a serious but comforting voice, cupping my cheeks in his warm palms, lifting my tear-streaked face “I love you, I only love you, and I will love you as long as I live”

  Yes, he kept that promise.
