Gemini's pov:

Heavy footsteps? Heavy breathing, heavy heartbeats.

The water of the Pacific Ocean turned red that day.

The light left the sky that day.

The lily petals fell that day.

Three days, is all I want.

Five days, to miss my count.

Twelve days, for the mess to be cleared.

But the dent it left,
Shall be here forever, marking my jaw, taking my kiss, forever more.

Come shall, come shall.

It should never had ended like this.
-------------------------------------------------------

It was funny, it really was, how he thought it was actually okay to leave me here, leave me in that room.

He did not know he was vulnerable, he did not know he was precious.
He did not know he was being hunted.

I did not know he was being hunted.

Hunted by the shadows that merge in the dark, the shadows that bore into me, the shadows that shall hunt me as well.

He did not know the man carried a knife.
--------------------------------------------------------

Flashback to that day.

Author's pov:

The body was carried away in a bodybag, the boy he left cried like a child in another man's arms.

The boy was screaming like he had all his organs ripped out of his body one by one.

The boy was sobbing like he had a mission to fill up the craters on the moon.

The boy was in pain.

Then he was hyper, mad. It was like he ingested a whole lifes worth of sugar in one go and washed it down with bottles of sulfuric acid.

The boy had to have a couple sleeping pills to calm down.

He slept for seven days, tried to make deals with the devil. He lit candles, shed blood, broke mirrors.

Phuwin's pov:

It took Gemini a couple of months to be able to set foot in the hospital to claim the body.

"Hey... You sure you're good?" I pressed a hand into his shivering back, I can tell he still hasn't recovered.

The hospital was so silent I could hear the sound of my own eardrums vibrating.

The whole place reeked of iodine and hospital scrubs, I took his hand and squeezed it tightly.

"We don't have to do this, you know?"

All I got as a response was a shudder, it seemed like I was reminding him of what he had lost.

I haven't heard him speak in weeks, it's like he completely shut himself off from the whole world, using sleep and medication to break his sanity and make himself feel better, and I guess it did work, but it did cut his ability to speak.

We walked into the elevator, both our hearts dropped and his eyes darted around, hand hovering over the button to -1 floor.

The previous time Gemini pressed the button to -1 floor was to claim the bodies of our parents.

I wasn't in town when it happened, the car crash, the crash that made me and Gem into orphans overnight.

I wasn't there for him when it happened, so now I always feel like I owe something to him, and in a way, I do.

I wasn't there when Fourth left either, I was in a different country, and he was out at sea.

I wish I could see my piece of mind, I could take it out of my head, and light it on fire.

"Ding."

"Gem?" He was drifting again.

"Gem." I tugged on his hand, tugging him out his trance while he tugged on my heartstrings.

We were welcomed by a freezing cold sensation, a sensation that tricked my eyes and I saw a gate in the sky.

The scent of stale cement and plaster was noticable under overly floral air freshener.

Dim lights illuminated cracks and scratch marks on the walls, every scratch embedded a deep pain.

"Gem, we need to go forward." I nudged his shoulder with my palm, stepping forward.

He obeyed, shuffling slowly across the dark tiled floor.

'Morgue'

He stopped, lifting his head ever so slightly to read the letters, then let out a muffled groan, crumpling to the floor in one swift movement.

"Gem?!" I knelt down, grasping his hand in mine and pulling his frame into my arms.

His sobs were fresh and clear, they shook my bones and shattered my ears.

I just sat there for a while with him, just inhaling the scent of the morgue and whispering to any doctors that looked our way.

"Gem..." I whispered after his sobs decreased. "We have to go in now"

"Why Phi?! Why?!" That was the first thing he said to me in a long time.

"Why did he leave me? Did he not love me?" He whimpered.

"Gem." I stroked his tear-streaked face. "He loved you too much. He did not want you to get hurt, so he went to confront that man alone."

That was probably the wrong thing to say, because his sobs came back.

But we have no more time, I stood uo abruptly and pulled him upright.

"Gem." I looked at him straight in his red bloodshot eyes.

"I'm ready now, Phi" He mumbled.

I don't believe him.

"You sure?" I asked him, he nodded slowly.

I pushed the door open, a few doctors nodded at us, I forced out a smile.

"You are here to collect the body of Nattawat Jirochtikul?" one of them asked us.

And Gemini broke down again on the floor, sobbing.

"Yes" I said gently.

"He's been waiting for quite some time" The doctor added.

"Yeah, we needed some time to calm down."

"Well, here he is." The doctor pulled open the cadaver freezer, and there he was.
--------------------------------------------------------

Gem's pov:

There he was.

That face, so familiar, but so distant, so cold, so pale.

He looked sad, but so calm at the same time, so rested.

The wound on his neck was stitched up, black thread contrasting against his ghastly pale neck, the neck that was once filled with blood, the neck that I laid my lips on so many times.

I couldn't stay for much longer. The doctor asked us if we want the body to be cremated.

Such a shame...his beautiful face. I can't imagine him, disintegrated into a pile of ashes.

"No, I want a proper burial" I said.

He was buried on the cliff, the cliff where we first met, watching the sunset together, the cliff where we confessed our love, the cliff where the lillies grew.
