Chris's POV

Today is the day of our date and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited and also a little nervous... I thought about the hug he gave me all week... how good he smelled... how tight his arms felt around my waist... "I'll finally get to see his cute face again!!" I squealed. I immediately stopped when I realized what I just did, "Did I really just call him cute?! No, no, no!!! He's straight, he's not into me!!" I said, slapping my face. Just then, I got a text from CJ...

CJ: omw, be ready when I get there

Me: Okay, just honk your horn when you're outside.

CJ: aight

I was barely able to contain my nervousness. I had to restrain myself from jumping up and down. I love going to fairs, and I'm a sucker for cute dates.

"Not that this is a romantic date, he's just doing this to be nice." I said, anchoring myself back to reality.

It must've taken me about 20 minutes to get ready because I heard CJ honk his car horn just as I was able to step outside.

I waved at him with a huge smile on my face as I approached his car.

"Hiii!!" I said excitedly, getting in the car.

"You real happy today, you must really like the fair." CJ said, holding in a laugh.

"Yeah, I love the fair!! It's such a fun time and I love all the rides and food and games!!" I babbled on. CJ just nodded along with everything I said as he drove. I didn't even notice that he had eventually pulled into the parking lot and into a parking space as I rambled on.

"And I really like Ferris Wheels even though I've only ever been on one befor-"

"We're here." CJ interrupted before I was able to finish.

"Really?! Wow!! That was pretty quick!!" I said, enthusiastically.

"Yeah, it's because you literally talked for the entire ride." He chuckled as he got out of the car.

"Hey it's not my fault I like amusement parks." I mumbled.

"Hmm, I actually like listening to you talk, to be honest. You're an interesting person Chris. He smiled at me. This made me blush.

"I- umm, you're uhhh, you're interesting too!" I stammered while trying to cover my red hot cheeks.

"Are you blushin'?" He was fully staring at me now.

"Me?! Umm nooo, it's just really cold out here." I chuckled nervously.

"It's 70 degrees. He looked at me skeptically and then silently nodded. I walked to the ticket booth faster to avoid further embarrassment.

"Slow down lil bro, ain't no reason for you to be walking so fast!" CJ yelled from behind me. I didn't want him interrogating me any further, especially since we're barely friends...

I felt a hand on my shoulder, "Damn Speedy Gonzalez, you wanna wait for me?" CJ said, breathing heavily presumably because he was running to catch up with me.

"Um, I just wanted to beat  the line ya know?" I nervously chuckled.

"There's like 5 people in the line it won't take that long." CJ shrugged. So far I'm 0-2 for embarrassing myself and the date just started.

"Uhh, can I get two tickets for two adults?" CJ spoke into the customer booth.

"Sure! Can I see some ID first?" The cashier asked. He slid his ID through and then his card. Once that was handled, we walked through the gates and I was immediately hit with the sweet smell of funnel cake and the loud roaring of theme park rides and carnival music.
