Chapter 12

We soon arrived in front of the agency's building. I could see bright light shining out of the window in the pitch-black darkness, it stood out compared to all the other infrastructures. There were shadows moving, sounds were echoing. It seemed like that everyone had already arrived, but in such a short time? How's that even possible?

By the time I've predicted answers in my head, me and Dazai had already arrived by the door. He opened it and faces all looked upon us.

"Oiiii! What took you guys so long?" Ranpo, who was sitting on the table while chucking down a bag of chips protested in annoyance. Yosano was standing behind him, giving me a small wave.

Then Kunikida added, "you were the one who told us to come Dazai, and you're the one who's last."

Dazai called everyone here? Does that mean he already knew what I was going to confess before I even did? I looked up at Dazai with an alarmed expression, even though half of his face were not visible from my angle, I'm sure he caught my movements, but he simply did a small grin. Scary to be always around with such a high intelligence human...just made me feel more and more humiliated...

Within a few more minutes, everyone had all acknowledged the fact that me and Dazai finally arrived; gonna skip the bits when Kunikida-san was irritated though, he looked like that he was about to explode-

Without notice, the president stepped out of the separated room.

"Good evening president!" We all said in syncopation simultaneously.

"Very well, looks like we're all gathered. As we all know, the person who held this emergency meeting was Dazai, what would you like to say?" The president queried.

"As everyone has already know, there's an organization called the 'uprise of the demons', that wants the annihilation of Yokohama and my life." Dazai informed, and everyone nodded their heads, including me.

"The thing is, they want Chika, and threatened her to take my life as exchange for the safety of her relatives, who was still murdered because Chika refused to kill me in the past few days." He lied, and continued, "Then, they threatened her again, with the life of herself, but still, she didn't choose to kill me." Everyone listened closely and looked surprised, especially me. "Tanizaki kun, could you inform us about the information that we've covered about the organization?" Dazai suddenly asked.

Tanizaki opened the folder he was holding, and cleared his throat before reading it out, "so, the leader of this group is called Shin Akira, and there are three executives, Bakemono, Oni, and Yokai, real names unknown. However, it is said that Bakemono's ability is to change form, Oni's ability is to become invisible for a few seconds, and Yokai's ability is to devour everything within reach. The ability of Shin Akira lies unknown." He gulped, and then started speaking again, "most of the members were said to be abused children who hold great abilities that joined within their own violation, and the organization brought them up through training. Well...that's pretty much it of what we've got."

After saying so, Tanizaki took two more photo out of the folder and explained who they were, one of them was a man with black clothing, having middle length hair half tied up. Even though the face pretty much did not show, I recognised him immediately, it was Shin. The other photo was rather blurry, he was standing beside Shin. It was not clear, but you could still make out that it's just a boy, with short white hair also in black clothing. That was Oni.

Ranpo's smile disappeared after the explanations and took a perusal to inspect me. He must've already seen through the lies, but made no comment.

Dazai then reminded, breaking the silence "there was also a note that Chika received, it said she's got 12 more hours to kill me, but that's already hours ago. So now, we've got six more hours to make me dead, and prove it to Shin Akira, which then Chika will join the organization. Any objections?"

We all shook our heads.

"So...do we have a plan?" Atsushi asked, and our heads all turned back to Dazai.

"I've got one in mind. I'll fake a death, and it should be reported on the news by tomorrow morning, but Chika will go to the organization immediately after I go into hiding, otherwise, it would be pass 12 hours. There need to be a fake funeral arranged, and all information about me to be marked dead in the meantime." He explained.

"But what would happen to Chika?" Naomi protested worriedly.

"Trust me, Chika would be perfectly fine." Dazai assured, then looked at me and made a wink.

"How will we make it go on the news then?" Kenji made another point.

"I'll arrange that matter, it will be done within an hour." Dazai said confidently.

The president walked closer to us, and announced, "the plan is all set for now, further assumptions can be made later, since there's not much time left to waste. Dazai!"

"Yes president?"

"You would go sort yourself out within the next one hour. Chika, Atsushi and Kyoka?"

The trio of us instantly looked serious.

"You guys are going to arrange the funeral. The rest of us will work on the documents in the meantime." The president ordered, and dead silence came... "Alright! Get to work everyone!"

Dazai left the door after that, and we all dug into the plan. I wonder what's in Dazai's mind...just so hard to even predict...

(I know that I've been updating very slow...sry( /_ \)but it would continue like this for the next fortnight too, because I'm studying for the selective school entry examination...sry＞︿＜)
