After finding the proof, I rushed out of the room, and screamed at the top of my lungs, though only aiming at Chuuya, "The agency did not do anything close to betrayal! The evidence is right here!"
The two stopped moving after hearing my voice, and all eyes looked towards me. Especially the orange-haired boy, who walked towards my direction. Although he was shorter than me, I still felt the pressure when he came closer. About less than ten centimetres, he glared at me looking up, and tried to snatch the permit off my hands. However, I reacted quick, and flung it higher.
"Not yet, I'll give it face-to-face to your boss," I explained seriously.
He then narrowed his eyebrows, frowning, and expressed, "huh?"
"I said, I will give it to your boss by myself," I repeated.
"Tsk, get downstairs, and no one else follows," Chuuya ordered and walked towards the exit.
I followed as he ordered, looking back at the chaotic scenery. All faces were intense, and the building looked destructed. Despite the resolution, I still felt uneasiness that something terrible would happen.
Outside the building was a prepared car waiting, and Chuuya got in. I stood for a few seconds before Chuuya gave a dour look. The journey was silent, and I didn't dare to ask a question. By the presence of the situation, it seemed like that the organization tried to conflict the agency and Port Mafia. Why did they do that when Dazai's already dead? Did they just want to save some energy and let the two annihilate themselves instead of killing directly?
Shortly after, we arrived at the Port Mafia headquarters, and the guards permitted us in as soon as they recognized Chuuya. Meeting Mori was frustrating, he's rumoured as a ruthless person, killing those in the way. Being a target of his wouldn't be great...
Before I realised it, we already arrived at a grand entrance. It must've been Mori's office. Then the door opened and Chuuya left to leave me alone.
"Welcome welcome! Would you like some tea Chika-chan?" The men sitting at the end of the long table asked. He had a small child next to him, must be Elise?
I walked towards him and took a sit on the opposite side cautiously.
"As you are aware, the agency did no betrayal," I said as I pushed the permit to him. He looked pleased and took a long look at the paper.
Before we could continue the conversation, the guard suddenly forced himself in.
"Boss! There's been an outbreak! We must evacuate right now!" he informed urgently.
Mori raised his eyebrows, but then an unforeseen explosion came from below. Before neither of us could comprehend, I felt a hand from behind, and was dragged deep into the darkness once again...
--
When I gained the slightest consciousness, I could feel the familiar situation. It was the restraint when I first met Shin. At that moment, I knew it might've been the end of my existence. Then light forced on my eyes to have them open.
As expected, Shin was in front of me. He still looked solely depressed, but with more disappointment.
"You know Chika, I always had high hopes for you despite your uselessness," He said with a pitiful look. I opened my dry mouth, but then closed it again.
"We found out about the permit before you arrived, but never knew the reason behind it. So, we sent you back and let it play out." Before continuing, he took a prolonged sigh. "Turns out Dazai was never killed, but even Mori didn't sense a spy from us. You've betrayed us as half expected. All these years, have I not given you enough?"
At that point, there was no talking needed, I already knew my fate. I was prepared for it from the very start, and death meant ultimate freedom. Accepting and embracing it was the best option.
Alternatively, a boy's voice from behind spoke, "Before you carry the execution out, could we have a moment?" It was Oni, he still looked serious, without emotion.
Shin Akira looked at Oni suspiciously, but obeyed. As soon as he closed the door from behind, Oni got out a knife and started to cut the restraints.
"What are you doing?" I exclaimed.
"Be quiet Chika, you don't want to die." He replied with a trembling voice.
"Why are you helping me?" I asked, desperate for an answer.
"What I'm about to say might sound ludicrous to you. But I'm your bother Chika. I would never want you to die, I will protect you at all costs." He clarified, this time I could see the tears in his eyes. They were tears of fear and love. Without explanation, the urge of tears burst out of me too. So many feelings were indescribable.
Within a few seconds, I was free. Then Oni gave me a gun, and made me clench it. Then pointed it towards his heart. By that time, none of us could hold our cries. It was cries of pain.
"Now I want you to press the trigger Chika, after that, run towards the port straight North from here." He said encouragingly.
"What is happening?! What are you even talking about Oni?" I mumbled out.
"You have to kill me, otherwise Shin will kill me anyways. My fate is unchangeable, but yours is. Don't let this go to waste, and live on." My brother half yelled.
I was dumbfounded, and tried to let go of the gun.
"PUSH IT!" He cried out one last time.
And I did.
(Below is a very chuuni photo of what Oni might look like😭 sry I cant be bothered to draw)
