TW!!: mentions of needles and blood.

Three weeks go by.

The first one is uneventful, I barely see Miguel. I fight a few anomalies and hang out with Hobie, Gwen and Pav A LOT. My schedule is all over the place, but I love it. I eat when I'm hungry, I sleep when I'm tired, no one tells me when to do anything unless I have to go on a mission. This is my dream job.

The second week Miguel remembers he's supposed to be mentoring me, so we go on a few missions together and he gives me some tips on swinging and other shenanigans. Turns out, we also make an amazing team. We've both been spider people for some time now so there's not a lot for him to show me, just perfecting some stuff. He doesn't say it but I can tell he's impressed by my fighting skills, I'm totally not delusional.

The third week Miguel still doesn't have time during the day, but he's back on night duty, which is basically looking out for anomalies all night in case we have to go on emergency missions. For some reason anomalies are less active at night though, so sometimes he invites me over to his lab so we pass the time speculating and making theories about what happened to my dimension and why I'm still alive.

Highly recommend playing - Too Many Nights by Metro Boomin, Future, Don Toliver.

One night, I'm lying in my bed, listening to some music, admiring the city view, when there's a knock on my door.

I look to my watch to see it's one a.m.

The only person that would knock at this time is Miguel.

I climb off my bed and hurry to the door, I quickly check my reflection in a mirror beside the door. I'm kind of in pijamas but whatever.

I open the door, and there he is, typing away on his watch.

"Hey uh... it's another uneventful night so, if you want we can keep researching on that" he says without looking up from his watch.

I realize how quickly we've become close. How he knows I'm always up at this time, and how we've memorized each other's order from the cafeteria. How he always pinches his nose when he's annoyed at someone, and how he got a couch in his little cave for when I stay there so long I end up falling asleep. Also when he smiles a lot you can see his fangs because he's some kind of vampire Spider-Man.

I smile to myself. "Yeah lemme go put my suit on I'll be right there"

I change quickly and we head to his lab.

"Sooo any progress on the research?" I ask, as I ask every day.

As usual, he shakes his head. "Nothing." He furrows his brow "I have an idea though, of something we can try tonight."

I snort at that. And he rolls his eyes.

"Can you please not make everything dirty? Cómo están las hormonas Jeez."

"Alright, alright" I laugh, "so tell me about this idea."

"Well," he starts "you know how the Go-Home-Machine scans your DNA and it detects what dimension you're from?"

"Yes, but we already tried that and it said 'Dimension not found'" I reply.

"Exactly, so I was thinking, if we took a blood sample, and studied it more closely, we'd get an accurate result" he explains with caution.

"Alright then, let's do that." I say, we're reaching his lab already.

He looks at me from the corner of his eye as we walk in. "You're okay with it?" He asks.

"Uhhh yeah?" Why would I not be?

"I have to warn you though, if it doesn't work with a needle I'm gonna have to suck the blood out myself" he says in a serious tone.

If I didn't know him, I wouldn't be able to tell he was messing with me.

"If you want to bite me just say it Miguelito, you don't have to make up excuses for it." I put my hands on my hips as we walk to the control panel. I sit down on one of those chairs with wheels and start spinning around.

"Ha ha, very funny." He grabs the back of the chair to stop me and sits down in front of me. "Stay still" he says as he takes my arm and ties a thick band around my bicep.

He pokes around until he finds the vein, cleans up the area with a cotton pad and sticks in the needle, extracting the blood he needs.

Then he swiftly takes it out, and says "Keep pressure on that" as he hands me the cotton pad.

He turns around in his chair with the tube and sticks it in a weird machine. "Lyla, scan that sample for me" he orders.

"Yes sir" I hear her reply.

He's concentrated on whatever is going on in that computer so I start spinning in my chair again.

"I'll fully analyze it tomorrow in the microscope but for now Lyla can tell us if she sees anything out of place" he tells me without looking away from the screen.

I hum in agreement and stop spinning, I take the chance of him not looking at me to look at him.

Man is pretty okay? I like to stare.

"Uhhh... guys?" Lyla's voice breaks the silence.

"Qué Lyla?" He says tiredly.

"I found... components in their DNA... from more than one dimension..."
