The Dorito man clears his throat, placing his elbows on his knees to lean forward in his chair. He looks down at the floor, closing his eyes and taking in a deep breath before raising his head again.

He looks at me, and I'm not one for eye contact but I realize he has red fucking eyes and I can't stop staring.

"I... don't think we had proper introductions, so let's get that out of the way first" he straightens his back, "I'm Miguel O'Hara, and I'm this dimension's Spider-Man." He sees me opening my mouth ready to ask questions, but shakes his hands in front of me to stop me. "I'm getting there, give me a second."

He rakes a hand through his hair and takes a breath.

"As you can see, you're not the only person with spider powers, the spider society is a collective of thousands of different spider people from different dimensions, we're an elite force destined to maintain the natural order in every dimension and prevent them from... unraveling." He explains, looking at me to make sure I'm following.

"So... my dimension, I'm guessing you didn't prevent it from- unraveling?" I say, I try not to sound judgmental but it's their one job and they didn't make it?

"We couldn't, no" he says quietly, he sounds defeated. There's a bit of a silence before he goes on "Look I'm, I'm really sorry, I know how painful it can be to see everything and everyone disappear, I honestly don't know how you're dealing with it right now."

I start feeling a bit funny, my mask is making it difficult to breathe so I pull it off. I take a deep breath. "Oh um... I'm not" I laugh a little and look up at him. He's staring, so I feel like I need to explain myself. "It feels like... too much happened so... my brain is kinda ignoring what happened until it can process it" I force a smile.

He shakes his head, snapping out of whatever he was in, and he sighs. This man is literally always sighing like some yearning girl in those Mexican soap operas I swear.

"Dios santo. Lyla make her an appointment with Spider-Therapist please" he tells the little hologram lady.

"Right away sir" she replied.

"Well, as you said, your dimension unravelled. We have no idea where the anomaly came from, or what cannon event was disrupted but I've never seen a dimension vanish so fast, the fact that we couldn't stop it, or even detect the anomaly before it happened is very strange and I will not rest until I find out what happened, I promise y/n." The man finishes his speech while looking intensely at me.

I blink a few times, and then the questions start flowing. "Uh, what's a cannon event? And an anomaly? Can I help? I need to find out what happened. Also how do you know my name?"

The man sighs dramatically (again) and, with the help of Lyla, catches me up on everything else I don't know. Turns out he's been sort of monitoring me every since I got bitten by that spider. But apparently he monitors every single Spider-Man ever so I try to brush it off as not creepy at all.

"The thing that's wracking my brain is the fact that you... you're still here." Miguel looks at me as if I were an experiment inside a test tube. He stands up, and then grabs my arms, making me stand too. He cups my face and examines every angle, he has this intense vanilla scent mixed with something else. Then he lifts my arms and lets them drop, studying me, and then stands back with his chin in his hand and a thinking face.

"So you wanna help find out what happened right?" He asks.

I nod enthusiastically.

"Well, this is what we can do. You can stay in one of the dorms we have here for a while, and help out fighting anomalies in every other dimension, while also helping out here at HQ doings chores and research, and earn a salary as a full-time spider society employee. Eventually you'll have enough money to move out and get your own apartment, which I can help you find." He says in a tired yet kind voice. "For now though, you're going straight into Spider-Therapist office, you'll meet the crew after the session." He pinches his nose and shakes his head lightly "Necesito unas vacaciones."

He's finally done talking, "Really? Would that be possible? Oh my god thank you thank you thank you. Really, honestly thank you so so much I-" Im halfway through my aggressive thanking when my smile drops. I look up at him pleadingly "Is- is there no way for me to... get my reality back? Like is it gone, forever?"

I don't know why I'm asking this, I already know the answer.

He looks at me, his red eyes are full of sadness and compassion, "No mi cielo, believe me, I've tried. I'm very sorry." He says again, placing a hand on my shoulder.

I'm just standing there, staring at him. I don't know what he just called me but it sounded nice and he's being so kind I wanna hug him and never let go. But he clears his throat, turning me around and practically pushing me out the door.

He hands me a fancy looking watch and tells me to ask Lyla for directions to the therapist's office. The door slides behind me and I'm out in the Go-Home-Machine place.

That was a very weird change of vibe.

I look at my watch, it has a bunch of weird stuff going on it. "Lyla?" I call her, still unsure if she will show up.

She materializes in light from the watch and gives me a wink, as she reassures me that everything will be okay, and leads me to Spider-Therapist.
