"Leah? Avery?"

I found myself angrily stirring pancake batter as I prepared breakfast. I had woken up to Lanni crying and started making breakfast.

When I came down the stairs I saw Leah asleep on the couch and everything from last night flooded my brain.

Who did my dad think he was treating us like that? And the things he said I didn't expect from him.

"baby you okay?" I didn't even realize dd was standing in front of me "yeah I'm good, just thinking" I said.

"baby I know what you're thinking about, your dad didn't mean any of that" he said, "it sounded like he did" I said buttering my pan.

"He was just shocked, he's here for a few more days so you guys should talk so it's not awkward" dd said.

"morning gwandpa" lanni said waving at my dad from the couch where she was watching tv. I could see DD's eyes turn to me.

My dad walked towards the front door and grabbed his suitcase from where he left it last night.

"ouch lanni!" I hear Leah yell from the living room, "sorry" she said.

"Leah what are you doing?" dd asked sternly, "I just accidentally jumped on her, but not on purpose" lanni said.

"come over here because it's almost time to eat, and Leah it's fine for you to get up too" dd said.

"Shut the hell up dd" Leah said getting yo and going to the bathroom.

"Lanni do you want orange juice or apple juice today?" I asked her, "orange juice" she said.

I started plating food and dd put them on the table. "Avery are you doing anything today?" Leah asked me.

"I was gonna spend the day with dd and lanni probably" I said, "oh i was just wondering" she said taking a seat at the table.

My dad started walking down the stairs and the room got quiet. "Mommy can I have my iPad at breakfast?" Lanni asked me.

"Not today, maybe tomorrow" I said, I try not to have her on it too much, and she just was watching tv.

We all sat down at the table and started eating and it was pretty quiet. "Uhm.. I just want to uhm, I just want to apologize for last night" my dad said.

"Honestly, I haven't been there as a father to you two, and when you told me you were pregnant I just felt like I was missing the important parts of your lives.

I said terrible things but the biggest part of the reason I was acting like this is because I've been keeping a big secret from you girls too." He said.

"dad, you really hurt me last night because I never expected anything like that from you. I forgive you though, because you're my dad and I love you" I said.

"Wait you said you've been keeping something from us, what is it?" Leah asked.

"uhm girls a few months back when I was home I got a knock on the door and it was...your mom." He said.

I couldn't even think, what does he mean our mom? "dad what are you talking about?" Leah said.

"Wait I thought y'all didn't know y'all mom" dd said confused, "we don't" I said through gritted teeth.

"She came and she was talking about how she was better now, and she wants a relationship with you girls"

"That's part of the reason I came here, she's in New York right now  and wants to go for lunch with you two if you're open to it" he said.
