"What do I need to search up?" I looked over at Sam, who had his face buried in a book. His face shifted when I asked him, his eyebrows lowered and he bit his lower lip. He was looking at the book, but you could tell he wasn't reading.

With minimal effort, I shuffled over to him on my chair awkwardly, realising that he hadn't talked this whole time. "Are you... Ok?" Snapping shut the book, he slid it into his bag and grabbed the backpack, opening the door and walking out. I stood up and followed him to the top of the stairs, "Sam? Sam, where are you going?" He was traveling at an alarming rate with intent to leave, down the stairs, and into the kitchen where the front door was. Then I heard Nanna. "Oh hello dear! Did Cooby-Wooby send you down to collect the snacks? Here you go!"

Soon enough, I saw Sam returning, back up the stairs, but with a large plate of snacks. Begrudgingly and with a straight look on his face, he pushed passed me, walking back into my room. I walked in after him, closing the door, and watching him throw down the plate on to my desk, and walk to the wall of my room, facing the wall. "Sam, is this about this morning? I'm sorry for not doing anything, truth is, I wanted to help but Josh and Seth have never done anything like that before. I didn't know how to help. As soon as they knew that I was working with you for science, they thought it was a good reason for them to be rude to you. I'm so, so sorry." I had never apologised to this extent before, but I had an overwhelming amount of guilt eating me from the inside.

We stood there in silence, me facing his back, he was facing the wall, but he began to turn around. I was able to see his face, and it looked like he was about to cry. "S-Sam?"

And then he started giggling. "Your grandma calls you Cooby-Wooby?" I went from feeling the most amount of guilt that anyone had ever felt, to being humiliated by the person I felt bad for, but I laughed with him. We laughed it off for a couple minutes, before Sam actually said some thing that relieved that guilt I had. "But seriously, thank you for apologising Colby. You promise it won't happen again?" We smiled at each other. A meaningful smile.
"I promise."
"Alright. What do we need to learn?"

"Everything."

"So, are the letters for gold, GD?"

"No, the abbreviation for gold is AU, and the element for GD is gadolinium,"

"Ok. What's iron again?"

"Iron is FE," Colby looked at me with a confused face, but I'd didn't blame him.

"Whoever named these letters, is an idiot." I didn't try and correct him.
