WEDNESDAY : 5:30pm
My old car made an ugly sound as it pulled into Colby's drive way, and I was met by the man himself at the front door. I followed him up to his room, but instead of making witty banter, he just gave me an uncomfortable smile, and strolled up the stairs. After closing the door, Colby plopped himself down on the wheely chair at his desk, and got his phone out. "Aren't you packing for the party? I'm sure you'll be accommodated, but you'll still need a bag, right?" There was no sign of him even getting ready for any type of party, he wasn't dressed like it, and he definitely didn't smell like it.
"I'm not going."
"What? Why?" I took a few steps closer to the chair.
"I umm... I slapped a girl today," my eyes widened as I heard the startling news, but his gaze stayed strictly glued to his phone.
"What?"
"She kissed me, I didn't want her too, and so I slapped her. Now, all of my friends hate me, and no one at the party is going to want to talk to me."
"That's stupid, of course they'll want to. I'll want to talk to you, don't I mean anything?"Colby's eyes wandered away from his phone screen, and up to me, "Yeah, sorry."
"Don't worry, you're not alone with the whole 'friends hate you' thing. Nate doesn't-"
"Wait, who's Nate again?" Colbt looked genuinely confused. I laughed, realising how much different my friends were, and how little was know about each other. "Nate is the one that likes to make music," he nodded at my reply, and let me continue.
"Anyway, Nate knows how popular you are... and thinks that you're manipulating me so that you can have a laugh with your friends."Instead of me getting worried, it was Colby's eye brows that creased this time. Picking up on his disappointment, I tried to reassure, and tell him that I didn't mind, "Don't worry dude, I'm sure that they'll come around to you eventually. Just... Not right now," I placed my hand on his shoulder, hoping that my smiling encouraged him.
"Yeah," he threw his phone down and stood up, "you know what? We're gonna go to that party, and we're gonna have the best time EVER!" Colby threw his arms up, like he was at a rave, and screamed like he had taken drugs at one. I couldn't contain my laughter, balling my eyes out at the three year old that I was friends with.
He chuckled, and walked over to his wardrobe, taking off his shirt, and causing my laughter to fade into embarrassment. Like it had so many times before, my face went strawberry red, but Colby was facing the other way, so he wasn't able to see me this time.
It seemed like I was getting used to going red, as the adrenaline left my face quickly after a sip of water, and conveniently, right when he turned back around. Colby was wearing a loose-fitting, black button-up, and dark wash jeans that looked like a moth had gotten a bit hungry. The cherry on top, were some silver chains, one on his jeans, and a couple around his neck. My ragged flannel and hoodie were nothing compared to him.

On the car ride to Josh's house, I was able to reflect on what had been said in the last few minutes. An indescribable, thankful weight was lifted off my chest when I heard that Colby wasn't dating anyone, I didn't really know why though. Probably because I'd thought that I had heard Ameilia's name around school, and it didn't sound like she was the nicest person ever. I'd only ever want the best for my friends.
