tw : implied relapse

"Something's up, man." kurt raked a hand through his blonde locks, letting it fall right back into his face as he frantically bounced his knee while sat at the kitchen table.

"you're paranoid," krist sternly assured the younger. "jane is fine. you're getting in your own head, man."

"i'm serious, krist!" kurt snapped, "jane doesn't just– not answer. especially after two days."

"two days, kurt. two days." krist pressed on, "she can take care of herself, y'know."

"i know that, but–" kurt cut himself short with an exasperated sigh. "it just isn't like her."

krist sympathized with kurt. maybe it was different because of krist and jane's relationship. while they had become somewhat close since she got kicked out, they still had a strain on their relationship. they never interacted all that much beforehand, besides the few family gatherings and reunions the two had.

krist sighed as he slowly approached kurt's side, resting some of his body weight against the
table.

"i know you're worried about her, but, trust me, jane is fine. she's smarter than the both of us combined, i know she's taking care of herself." krist attempted to comfort the other.

though it didn't do much, it eased up some of kurt's nerves. he gave a small nod, opening his mouth to speak, yet was cut short by the sound of the front door opening and shutting.

the two peaked down the hallway, revealing none other than dave, who had waltzed in with a half-eaten donut in hand.

his eyes flickered between krist and kurt as he inched closer. "this looks like some intervention." dave noted aloud.

"might as well be one." krist added, "he's having 'jane withdrawals.'"

dave offered a sympathetic frown, "still no word from her?" kurt shook his head.

"maybe she's caught up with school and shit. it is midterm season, after all." dave said, "and, considering it's princeton, they're probably super strict with studying and stuff, y'know?"

kurt shrugged. "i don't know," he grumbled, "she's probably fine." he said, yet not sounding too sure of himself.

"welp," krist smacked his hand against the table before departing from kurt's side, "we're all here now. i say we run upstairs and get some practice in."

"i'll be up in a second," kurt spoke, standing up from the table, "i'm gonna try to call jane one last time, then i'll meet you guys up there."
