Master Plo Koon was delivering a lesson to his padawan, Silara Lissiri, on duelling in the combat chambers. They went to a secluded area within the chambers so they would not be disturbed. Silara was a practitioner of Form IV Ataru and Shien's Form V variant of lightsaber combat, much like her master. Form V Shien was a defensive form, but it was not best suited for a single opponent or necessarily lightsaber combat when it was of better use with multiple enemies with blasters.

Ataru, however, was well suited for lightsaber combat and singular opponents due to its aggressive style, but it still had some issues as it was not thought suitable enough for multiple opponents or blaster fire.

One of the main weaknesses, however, of Ataru was being shown to Silara as she duelled her master. Silara had good endurance, but that could not save her from the main weakness of Ataru, which was that it was ill-suited for prolonged combat. Users of Ataru were advised that if they were unable to win a duel quickly with a flurry of Ataru attacks, they should withdraw. Ataru was also not suitable for tight spaces with its need for acrobatics.

Both Master Plo and Silara were duelling one another with Ataru, but Plo, being vastly more experienced and stronger than his 15-year-old padawan, was able to best her in lightsaber combat, albeit that it was a sparring session with their lightsabers tuned to a training setting instead of their lethal setting. Silara, despite her durability, was sweating and panting as she had been practising Ataru with Plo in the combat chambers for hours.

Master Plo had noticed Silara getting more and more tired throughout their training, but he was happy to see this because he knew that his padawan was pushing herself more and more, and Master Plo was trying to extend the time their lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat training as they trained with Ataru in that respect, but Master Plo did this to combat the main weakness of Ataru being its inability to engage in prolonged combat, and he was trying to fix this by increasing Silara's resilience and endurance.

With the likes of blaster bolt deflections, it was Shien they used, which Silara proved well capable of in both the deflection and returning of blaster bolts. The pair had grown to know each other very well due to their frequent meditation sessions together.

Plo sheathed his lightsaber and placed his lightsaber on his belt and Silara followed the actions of her master as well.

"That'll do for today, little one. I can see how hard you worked today and how tired you are. That was some good improvement today. You go and rest up now." Plo spoke with that deep and loud voice of his, though at times it could be somewhat muffled due to the mask he wore due to his species finding oxygen poisonous.

"Thank you, Master, but how can you tell I have though?" Silara was grateful for her master's kind words, but she did not know how her master could tell after as long as she could remember. That is how her master always ended a training by saying there was improvement.

"When you become a Jedi Knight and should you choose to accept the great responsibility of training a padawan, you'll see that your padawan will continue to improve under your tutelage, no matter how insignificant the improvement may be. You'll find it." Master Plo placed his hand on Silara's left shoulder, offering her his words of wisdom. Silara nodded and had a slight smile on her face, greatly appreciating the confidence that her master had in her and his belief that she would become a Jedi Knight.

Silara left for her chambers as Master Plo left for a meeting with the Jedi Council. Silara contemplated how she could improve her lightsaber skills as she entered her chambers. She was enjoying the progress she was making with Ataru, but she knew it was not suitable for prolonged combat and was thinking of how she could improve her endurance more and more so that she would be perfectly adapted to using Ataru and never get tired from using it.
