It had been two months since Winter and Rast, both 13 years old, had become Padawans to Master Kryze and Master Lissiri, both of whom were 21 years old. It had been a trying time in the galaxy, for the Separatist Crisis was still present with no sign of stopping. The crisis was gaining more traction, and tension was rising, as was anti-Republic sentiment throughout the galaxy. It had also been a trying time for the Jedi Order, as due to the Separatist Crisis, the Republic was having to lean more on the Jedi than they already had been when the crisis began.

The Jedi were already heavily relied on by the Republic; more was asked of them, though. The Jedi continued to carry out matters of diplomacy on behalf of the Galactic Republic to keep star systems within the Republic to prevent defection to the Separatists. The Jedi were not just acting as diplomats; their reputation as peacekeepers was also being tested. The Jedi were being sent to planets across the galaxy that were on the brink of or currently engulfed in ongoing coup d'états but also revolutions.

There had been some concerns that civil war would break out on some planets, but none had come to fruition as of yet, although some had been ongoing before the Separatist Crisis even began, like the Sepan Civil War, the Virgillian Civil War, and the Summertime War.

Kancetto and Silara had been busy over the last two months, for they were not only training their Padawans but also training themselves in running, unarmed combat, and lightsaber practice so they could continue to fulfil their duties as Jedi Guardians. They were also carrying out diplomatic missions separately, and they at times carried out diplomatic missions together.

The Jedi High Council was also assigning missions to them to carry out together. These missions they were assigned had the potential to be dangerous but also deadly. Some of the missions they had already been sent on included handling border disputes, preventing coups, and halting revolutions that could have seen Republic-affiliated planets align themselves with the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS).

These coups and revolutions never truly came to fruition and were often overestimated in scale. These suspected coups and revolutions were incorrectly believed to be the most dangerous mission to be sent on, when in fact it was the border disputes that held a greater potential to turn deadly. These border disputes often already had high tensions and required delicate handling, so they did not get out of hand. Kancetto and Silara, whether that was separately or together, were seeing first-hand political and social movements, protests, and even small uprisings on the planets they were being sent to on Republic-aligned planets.

Through these missions, they were seeing not only how serious the Separatist Crisis was becoming but also how indecisive and divided certain planets were in choosing their fate, whether that was to remain loyal to the Republic or defect to the Separatists.

Kancetto and Silara, having taken the decision to take Winter and Rast as their Padawans, could not have come at a more inconvenient time due to the Republic becoming heavily reliant on the Jedi Order to help them weave through the Separatist Crisis. It strained both Kancetto and Silara, especially since they neither had any experience in training a Padawan. The more experienced Jedi that were in the process of training a Padawan were feeling the strain too. It acted as comfort for both Kancetto and Silara, knowing that nearly every Jedi currently training a Padawan was experiencing the same difficulties. This comfort was small, however, for if more experienced Jedi were feeling the strain and difficulty, it likely only meant the challenge of training a Padawan would be harder on them.

The two Jedi Knights, with their commitments to training their Padawans and their duties to the Republic, but also to continuing their practice of running, unarmed combat, and lightsaber, proved difficult to keep separate. Even without the political turmoil that the galaxy was in, keeping things separate was not exactly a wise choice, something Kancetto and Silara learned the hard way. Soon, training their Padawans in running as well as combat became the way for Kancetto and Silara to hone their martial skills.
