Chapter 2: A wolf

Ted's POV

When Mom and Granny were sleeping, I sneaked out and first, went to Audrey's house. I knocked 3 times and wait for her, I hope she is not sleeping yet.

" *yawn* Ted, what are you doing here this late?" Audrey said rubbing her tired eyes, and she still looked perfect!

" Oh Audrey, so glad you are awake! I need to tell you something. I think I found a way to see a real tree" I said and she fully woke up.

" Wait, really? Come in" she said and let me in and we sit in the main room.

"Anyway, I thought about what you said and I asked my grandma and she told me that we need to find the lost forest" I said.

"The lost forest?" Audrey said confused.

"I know it sounds crazy but yes. We need to go outside the town and find that rock wall that maybe, just maybe, the forest is behind it. But I can't go alone, I need you to come with me, please" I said and she thought for a moment.

"*sigh*.. Alright, I will come with you" Audrey said and waited for her to get ready.

When she got downstairs we got in my electric bike and I drive behind the houses.

"So, how do we get out of here?" Audrey said, at that I saw a pipe that said "Vent out" so I followed it and led us to a door up in the metal wall.

"Maybe that is where we can get out" I said and we got down of the bike.

We looked for a way to get there but then I saw a little door that said "Authorized Personal Only" . I opened it and there was a red button and with no doubt press it. Stairs appeared and let to the door. Audrey and I get upstairs in front of the door.

"We are really going to do this?" Audrey said.

"For a good cause" I said and opened the door. We get inside and all the chemicals were there.

"Wow...this is what no one wants to see" Audrey said.

When we got outside the vents, we gasped at the purple land with no trees and full of smoke.

"So it's true...it used to be here" I said. I rode and we saw all the place, the air was terrible, it was sour.

"Ted, look!" Audrey pointed at a big structure with axes attached to it. I dodged them all even if it was difficult. We kept driving until we saw a big rock wall, and we also could feel the air was not that sour anymore.

"That is the wall?" Audrey said and I nodded. We got down the bike and walk to were it was. When we were getting closer, I saw like a rope. With my curiosity, I kneeled down to see it.

"Ted! That's a tra-" Audrey shouted until our wrists got tangled and lifted us a little from the ground, hanged.

"Trap -_-" Audrey finished.

"Oops" I said chuckling nervously. I tried to stretch the rope to break but I failed. After a couple of minutes we started hearing something.

"Did you hear something?" I asked Audrey and she shook her head. I kept looking for where the sound was coming from and in front me, a figure of a wolf appeared.

"😨...Audrey...I swear I am not joking, but there is a freaking wolf in front of us" I said containing myself to yell.

"What?!" Audrey yelled and turn around to see the wolf. The wolf started to come out of the smoke and it appeared to be a blonde wolf with blue eyes, probably it's not an alpha since it's not that big.

"A real wolf.." Audrey said amazed and the wolf come close to us. It smelled us and looked at our wrists tangled. It smiled and started to move it's tail happily, sticking its tongue out too.

"No no, we are not a toy!" I said getting worried and the wolf started jumping and trying to bite the rope.

"Don't move or it can bite us" Audrey said but we both were moving in circles. The wolf kept trying but failed a lot of times. It looked at us, preparing to jump so high, it jumped and bite us. We both screamed and we also fell on the ground.

"Audrey! Are you ok?" I said and look on how she was covering her wrist.

"I'm fine, and you?" she asked me.

"I'm ok too, even if it hurts. Hey, you did that on purpose" I said upset and about to see the wolf but it wasn't there anymore.

"The wolf disappeared" I said and helped Audrey to get up and we ran in front of the wall. We looked for a way to get inside until there was a part of it full of plants and branches. Audrey looked close and she raised her hand and it started glowing when she was about to touch the branches. We gasped at how the branches separated for a moment and then closed.

"How did you do that?" I asked her.

"I don't know, but my hand just glowed" she said. I looked at the bite mark I remembered what Granny told me of a woman with powers. Then I decided to get my hand close to the branches and they opened again.

"Come on" I said and Audrey followed me.
