We drove for a while, and while we drove, I thought about all the memories I could regain. I still don't have much, so this journey could greatly benefit me. I still have so much to learn, but Crystal told me to take things one step at a time and at my own pace. Our first stop was at a house thirty minutes away. "Whose house is this?" I asked, looking around. "It's my buddy Craig's house." Uncle Carl replied. I looked some more. It was a nice big house with three stories. Uncle Carl told us to wait as he got out of the car to talk to Craig. They smiled as soon as they saw each other. "Craig is a childhood friend my dad has. His daughter is also a mutant." Crystal said. "Maybe he will give us more information." I replied. Crystal nodded in agreement. I sighed "This feels so weird. Like I switched bodies with someone." Crystal put her arm around me. "This is what this journey is for. This is all for you." I smiled as we looked out of the car window. Uncle Carl seemed to be having a really good time. Finally, Uncle Carl went to his car and told us that Craig is inviting us inside to talk. As Crystal and I walked in our jaws dropped. "Wow!" We both said in excitement. "Nice house, eh? I'm Craig. Craig extended his hand towards me to shake it. I shook it as I said, "I'm Sara, nice to meet you, and yes this is a very nice house." Craig smiled "Thank you." I smiled back "You're welcome." Craig gave Crystal and I a tour around the house as uncle Carl sat on the couch flipping through channels on the TV. Even though Crystal knows Craig she has never been to his place and has only seen the outside of his house. Crystal has been sheltered inside her and uncle Carl's house for a while because she is a mutant and Carl wants to protect her. While we walked, Craig asked "What was the question you have been meaning to ask?" I replied " My parents... I can't find them... I also can't remember their names and can't remember anything. Carl should know though." Craig scratched his chin. "I see." After our tour around the house we all sat on the couch with uncle Carl. Craig then motioned for uncle Carl to follow him so they could talk in private. As I watch TV with Crystal I began to hear Craig and uncle Carl whisper. I'm sure that Craig is not aware of my hearing ability. " We have to be careful of what we say Craig. Sara has better ears than anyone." I chuckled nervously from the couch at uncle Carl's words. "What's so funny?" Crystal asked with a smile. "Oh nothing!" I replied looking down at my hands in my lap before looking up at the TV. They continued to whisper. "I haven't heard from Sara or her parents since she was a little girl. Then I heard something about a mutant so I went to look with no hesitation. She overheard me mentioning her parents and asked where they were. She also has amnesia." Uncle Carl said. "Poor girl. This must be hard for her." Craig replied. Uncle Carl sighed "Yes...Have you heard from Scarlett and Adrian spring?" My eyes widened 'That's their names.' I thought to myself. Crystal chuckled "I love this show!" She must have thought I was enjoying the show too. It's hard to when you're when you can hear everything around you, especially a topic like this. "Look I hate to break it to you but that was a decade ago. No one has heard from them since. Honestly it's a good thing that you heard from Sara again." Craig said in a sympathetic voice. I took a deep breath to remain calm. Then someone bursted in the door. "I'm home!" Crystal and I looked back from the couch to see who it was. She had brown skin and red eyes along with brown curly hair that stops right past her neck and looked similar to Craig. She then looked at Crystal and I saying "Oh, hello. You guys must be friends with my dad. I'm Sasha." She smiled. I wanted to tell her the reason I'm here despite it being very personal to me. She seems like a very trustworthy person. " I'm Sara and this is Crystal. I don't remember much about who I am and we are trying to find my parents." I said. Just then, Craig came out to greet Sasha. "I see you three have all met." Craig smiled. "All three of you are mutants so you should get along very well." He continued. So this is the mutant that Crystal mentioned. "I was also about to start dinner, do you all want to stay to eat?" Craig asked. I looked down uncle Carl from a few feet away. He smiled and nodded in approval to Craig's question. I then turned back to Craig and nodded. Craig smiled " Great!" I watched as Sasha followed Craig to the kitchen to help him cook. I decided that I shouldn't be antisocial and went to help cook too. Craig was more than happy to allow me to help him cook. Since along with my other memories I also forgot how to cook, I figured it would benefit me to try and reteach myself. Craig pulled out a box of pasta and told me to put water in the pot on the stove. This could also be an opportunity to practice my powers too. I stood back and aimed my hand at the stove until water began to shoot out into the pot. "Cool powers!" Sasha said. "I guess I'll use mine too." She continued. I looked and noticed that she had thick heat resistant fitted gloves on. She pulled one off as she put her bare hand on the stove. I watched as the water began to boil, then Craig poured the pasta into the pot. I see that Sasha must have fire powers. A few hours later, dinner was finished. Craig took the meat out of the oven and we began to eat. As we sat down, I noticed Sasha pacing around looking for something. I got up and went up to her. "What's wrong Sasha?" She continued searching the kitchen as she said "My gloves... I need them because I burn everything I touch." She turned around to face me and her hand accidentally touched my arm. I flinched backwards violently and looked at my arm. There was a little burn on it. Sasha began to panic as she apologized again and again. Crystal got up. "Hey is everything okay?" Craig and uncle Carl looked back at us. Sasha sighed. "I misplaced my gloves. Sara was trying to help me and my hand touched her and..." "I know it was an accident." I reassured Sasha. Crystal walked over to the counter "Here they are." Sasha had a very relieved look on her face. "Thank you so much Crystal." Sasha said to Crystal. Crystal smiled and we all sat down to eat. The first ten minutes were filled with an awkward silence. Sasha had a very guilty look on her face. I wanted to say something to her but I'm not sure what would comfort her. Poor girl. She probably struggles with this every day. Uncle Carl broke the silence. "So, I contacted the people who live near the area where I last saw your parents and they are more than happy to help us find your parents." He said to me. I smiled. "Great! Let's go first thing in the morning!" Craig looked at Sasha. "Why don't you join them? You never spoke to other mutants your age and they seem like really nice people." Sasha seemed hesitant. "I might slow them down..." I smiled at Sasha "You won't! We would love to have you accompany us." Crystal and Uncle Carl nodded in agreement. Sasha smiled. "OK then. I'll come along!" We all cheered for having someone new travel with us and finished eating. After we finished, we all helped Craig clean up then went to bed. Craig had a few spare bedrooms for us three to sleep in. I'm glad I got my own room in case I had another nightmare. Surprisingly though, I slept rather peacefully. I woke up the next morning and went to the bathroom to wash up then had breakfast after. Craig and Crystal greeted me and gave me my plate of bacon, eggs, pancakes, fruits, and potatoes. "I know it's a big breakfast." Craig said. "We normally don't cook this much but since you guys are leaving, I wanted you to have extra food to carry. I also suggested for Sasha to pack an overnight bag." He continued. I thanked Craig. "Anytime." He said with a smile. Uncle Carl and Sasha came out of their separate rooms and greeted us. Sasha was carrying her overnight bag. "Since you guys are leaving, I made a big breakfast. Feel free to take as much as you would like." Craig said to Uncle Carl and Sasha. They nodded and thanked him. After breakfast we saved some food for later and said goodbye to Craig. He waved as we left. We all got into uncle Carl's car and started our journey to the next house. It was a 40-minute drive. When I saw the house, I got weird flashbacks. It was me at a very young age. I was swimming under a bridge until the water froze, including me. My head began to ache as I came back to reality. I got out of the car and the four of us walked together. We got to the doorsteps of the house and Uncle Carl rang the doorbell. The house was smaller than Craig and Sasha's and it was only a one-story house. The door opened and a woman with a floral printed white dress on was behind the door. "Hello there! Carl, isn't it?" she asked. "Yes, and I'm sorry to bother you." Carl replied. "Don't worry about it! My husband and I would love to have you guys over! I'm Abby and I'll show you guys around!" She shook all of our hands as we told her our names. Abby then let us inside and showed us around. We then all sat in the living room so Abby could give us any information needed. "About ten years ago Alexander and I heard screaming. It almost sounded like pleading for mercy. We ran outside and saw police officers with their guns pointed. They were aiming at a little girl who looked like you and a couple who seemed to be the parents of the little girl." She then looked at me. I asked, "Was I the little girl?" Abby sighed "I believe so." I look down at my lap and let out a sigh through pursed lips. I looked up at Abby and asked "What about my parents? Are they alive?" Abby gave me a sympathetic look. "If you look at the gate near the lake, there is a big gap that can cause anyone to fall into the lake. You guys backed up so much that you fell into the lake. Then the water froze mysteriously. We haven't heard from them since..." She said. "But you were lucky that Alex dug your frozen body out of the river because he discovered it while he went fishing. It took weeks for your frozen body to melt." Abby continued. Hopefully my parents were just as lucky as me. Now we just have to find them. "Thank you." I said to Abby. Abby smiled "You're welcome. And just one more thing." "Hmm?" I asked. "My brother Abaddon will be here with Alexander soon. Abaddon does not like mutants that much so he wouldn't want me speaking to you all even though you guys are very sweet people. I want you guys to be safe." Just as I processed what she just said, I heard footsteps. Then two men opened the door...
