A/N: Everything in italics is a flashback. Also, this is a very long chapter compared to what I normally post. I overdid it a little and started running up on 4000 words, haha. But I go you enjoy!
40 minutes before Feng's trial...
"Fucking great." (Y/N) murmured under his breath. Claudette had asked him to go find her 'Crispleaf Amaranth' or whatever the hell that was. Some sort of plant or flower, but he had no clue what he was looking for and had been going off a verbal description.
Maybe being dragged into a trial was a blessing rather than a curse. Because he would've felt bad returning back empty handed, but would've lost his mind if he searched any longer.
The only problem he was having was the fact he had been brought in as a killer. His last killer trial still haunted him, but after taking a hiatus from the killer camp and spending more time with the survivors, he was on the road back to normality.
He stood atop a cabin in the middle of a large forest. He remembered Joey told him this was Huntress' realm. He had never really spoken to the woman before. Mainly because she was absolutely terrifying. But also because she didn't really speak much English.
Amanda told him to hunt the survivors no matter what. No matter who they were. No matter if he didn't want to. Otherwise the Entity would influence him. He wouldn't really class Amanda as a trustable source, but he was out of options.
He hopped down from the wooden structure and zoomed towards the furthest gen as he spotted a swish of movement. As he got closer, he realised it was David. His back was turned as he worked on the generator, unaware of his presence thanks to the disguise he wore.
(Y/N) grabbed him off of the machine and immediately threw him over his shoulder as David exclaimed in surprise. But that fear died quickly as he was carried towards a hook with steady strides.
"You. Ya' the bastard oo' killed Cheryl." David growled. He pounded at the other man's back and shook side to side to try get away. His eyes shone back to the generator he had been repairing, looking at Jill as she hid on the opposite side of it.
"I didn't want to. I didn't mean to." (Y/N) said dejectedly. As he reached the sharp steel between the trees, he placed David on it with a grunt before turning around to go give the generator a swift kick.
"Bloody bullshit." David snarled as he hung bleeding and in pain. (Y/N) just bit his tongue and moved on. When he approached, a well of confusion ran through him. The gen was almost complete. He hadn't been searching for that long, right?
He reeled back his heel before planting it into the side of the metal. But rather than the outcome he expected: the generator being damaged, a sudden flash of light sparked from the device, blinding him for a moment.
"Ow. God, damn!" He exclaimed with a short 'eek', covering his eyes with his palms and groaning. What kind of torturous device was that? Since when were literal bombs allowed in trials? He could've sworn he heard a quiet snicker as footsteps faded.
But by the time his sight returned, whoever was here was long gone. With a sigh, he kicked the generator again before sauntering off in search of the next survivor.
Jill had struggled so badly to contain her laughter at the sound the killer made in response to her blast mine. It was a miracle she had managed to escape before she began to giggle herself into a fit.
