(Part One)

When he got up early that morning, this was the very last thing he expected himself to do. Or be doing. It wasn't right, he felt, leaning against the wall by the elevator, his heart pounding so loudly in his chest as he inclined his ear towards the voices on the other side of the wall -

Then why didn't it feel wrong, either?

"So, you probably know this already, but -"

"Then why are we talking about it? Why not just get to the point already?"

"Lower your voice, everyone is still asleep. And this is really important to the rest of the topic, so..."

His mouth forming a small 'o' in curiosity, he held his empty glass close to his chest as he moved an inch further along the wall, making sure to keep his footsteps as light as possible. Ejirou risked a glance from the corner he was hiding behind. His eyes widened to the size of golfballs when he saw the thing he was suspicious of the moment he had come downstairs playing out right in front of him.

No way...

Ejirou quickly ducked back behind the wall, biting his lip to stop himself from grinning for no reason like a complete idiot, as if he were in that room.

Eavesdropping on others wasn't something he stood by and a practice he never really encouraged. He knew he wouldn't enjoy it if someone did it to him, since it was an invasion of his privacy - and why would they do it in the first place? He had no secrets to hide, or nothing of that much interest that needed to be found out or anything.

But not those two, he thought, risking another peek from behind the wall. He blinked, rubbed the rest of the sleep from his eyes as if it all could've been a dream.

Those two...

Except it wasn't. His eyes weren't fooling him, either. No, what he was seeing, although nothing short of a miracle, was real -

Have so much secret stuff going on! He thought, excited as he looked out at his two closest friends sitting across from each other in the common area, open textbooks and notebooks haphazardly planted on the Chabudai between them.

The light in the common area was quite dim, most likely because of Miyuki's Quirk, so Ejirou squinted his eyes slightly to get a better view of the half-and-half girl and Katsuki, his curiosity piqued by both their presences there, alone, so early on a school day.

From what he could make out, they were both still in their sleepwear - Miyuki knelt in front of her side of the table, wearing a loose, long-sleeved white sweater and black trousers, a cup of herbal tea nestled in her hands - warming herself up, he guessed, since winter was getting pretty close.

Katsuki sat in his favourite black skull t-shirt and dark pants, which wasn't anything out of the ordinary for the him, nor was the piece of wagashi cake he was currently eating.

Miyuki-San must've made those, Ejirou guessed, eyeing the plate of cake slices between her and Katsuki. He felt his mouth begin to water at the sight of the sweet treat, but he shook his head. Focus on what they're saying!

"Well, I don't get it," Miyuki said, putting her hand in her chin and looking up from the textbook in front of her at Katsuki. "You seem to understand the properties of light just fine, including the seven different electromagnetic waves, their properties, their individual radiation levels and their respective wavelengths in good detail... What is it you wanted my help understanding here, Firecracker?"
