"Eunkyung, can you come downstairs please, your father and I want to talk to you about something!" Yejin and Eunkyung both looked at each other confused but nonetheless, both shrugged while one of the two girls had made their way down the massive set of stairs.
"Yes mum?" she spoke politely in hopes of not pushing the wrong buttons. Her mother ushered her over to the other side of the kitchen bench where a few stools were sat.
"Look honey... were moving... but uh... you're going a bit further?" her father's head dropped, eyes stuck on the bench trying to find the right words to say to Eunkyung.
"Look Eunkyung. What your fathers trying to say is your moving to Korea. We've spoken to your father's sister, and your cousin Jaemin has agreed to let you stay with him for a bit until we can set you up with an apartment. You remember Jaemin right?" Eunkyung's breath hitched the moment her mother had informed her on just how far she was moving. Of course, she remembers Jaemin, how could she not? He was a part of a massive K-pop group after all, it was physically impossible to forget when she was reminded every so often. Not to mention she kept tabs on him making sure he was alright with his not-so-new life as an idol.
"Wait... your kidding, right? This is all just for shits and giggles, right???" to say she was shocked is quite an understatement. Not really knowing how else to respond to the newfound information she just let out a very loud sigh.
"Eunkyung, this is for the best. You're getting good enough grades, you'll do perfectly fine over there. there are some things a parent simply can't explain to their child, this is one of those times. Now I need you to triple check you've got all of your stuff packed because your flight is at 2 pm. Go get ready please."
By now Eunkyung's siblings, including Yejin had heard the commotion and had come downstairs to see what was going on. Each of them stood there shocked, too scared to speak. All they could do was stand there and watch as the poor girl fought back and forth with her parents on a matter she cannot control.
"Eunkyung enough! I am your mother, and you will do as I say! This is for your safety! Look, I'm sorry I can't explain it now, but you seriously need to listen to me. I know I'm a bad mother, and I know I'm distant and cold. That doesn't mean I love you any less than I love Yejun or Haeun. You are 17 okay, you graduate soon. Just stick it out, and you never know after the next year of school you might fall in love and want to stay there." Eunkyung put her hands on the bench shifting some of her weight to her hands in order to push herself up.
A small "Whatever." Was all the girl could manage to get out before heading back to her room, ultimately ignoring her best friend and siblings as she walked past. Once she had made it into her room, she made her way over to her phone that was left face up on her table. Picking up the device she opened up her messages scrolling down until she found the contact of someone she hadn't spoken to since the family reunion 4 years ago.
