Marry Me?

Eda POV:

They were sitting on their hill. Eda and Raine, on the hill that they hadn't visited since a little after graduation. But this time...

   Eda had plans.

She was going to propose. She had the ring and everything, except... HOW in the of the TITAN do you start that conversation?! Was she just supposed to go, 'oh, also, will you marry me?'?! SERIOUSLY.

She had a million little opportunities, so at this point, she just wanted to pay lots of attention to the conversation, looking for an opportunity.

"... And so after that, she went all, 'I'm the head witch of the plant coven and I will NOT be demoted by none other than the famous turncloak!' And because of that, Darius got super angry, and blasted her off with the abomination slime! Though, honestly, Terra had it coming!" Raine said, eager to continue telling the story of how they, Darius, Lilith, Luz, and a few others, took down the c ovens.

"Haha! That's halarious! Oh, I wish I were there to see the face on that compost-haired blob of rotten smilk!" Eda laughed, still very nervous on how to propose. Would she be able to do it today? Would she be able to do it ever?

Raine must have seen something on her face, because they reached their hand over to rest on her shoulder.

"Are you okay? You look stressed." The asked with a look of loving worry on their face. Eda smiled at them and got an idea.

"No, I've been meaning to tell someone something. I just don't know how." She said.

"Who? What do you need to tell them?" They asked, a look of genuine worry on their face.

"It's... someone I've been hanging out with a lot recently... someone kind... someone who actually saved the world..." Eda trailed off, letting them guess.

"... Luz?" Raine asked after hesitating for a few moments.

"Nooooo. But they're also someone smart, talented, and they like pretending to rebel..." Eda said, sure this would immediately tell them who. Which it did.

"Okay, okay, I get it, you need to tell me something. What is it? Another riddle?" Raine asked, playfully giving Eda a small shove in the shoulder.

"Actually, it is!" She said, brightening up even more. "So, basically, it's a question where you have to stand a certain way and say something all sappy and sentimental, and it could lead to a really big part in your future." Eda said, wishing she had left out the last part but really not, because she thought it would give a little too much information. Raine still didn't get it.

"Um... wanting to have... kids?" They asked, a little awkwardly, because if Eda wanted that... well that was A whole other problem.

"No, silly! Before that! Besides, I already have Luz and King." Eda added. She already had some awesome, Boo-los butt-kicking kiddos of her own and she loved them. Fully and always.

"Uh... Oh!" They finally got it and covered their mouth with both hands, eyes wide as the moon and a blush slowly creeping onto their cheeks. Eda noticed and smirked, pulling a small box out of her back pocket, and getting down on one knee. She took a deep breath.

"Raine Whispers, Last Head Witch of the Bard Coven. You have been a blessing on my life since the moment I met you. You've had my heart in your hands for so long... and it never changed. We've had issues in the past, and we've conquered them, and even though my curse made both of our lives infinitely harder, you still loved me, through all of our trials and tears. It would be an honor to me if you would accept this offer. Rainestorm... will you marry me?" Eda finished her speech, opening the box and revealing a ring with an almost clear diamond on it and on the ring, was the pattern she had carved on her mandolin, now carved perfectly on the ring, and, if Raine accepted, would be always worn around their finger.

"Eda! Of course I will!" Raine said, launching themselves toward Eda and wrapping her in a hug, so tight they thought Eda and them would both burst! Raine pulled away and landed a sweet, tender kiss on Edas lips, hugging her. As they pulled away, they put on the ring and almost cried. Eda brushed the hair out of their face and looked into their eyes.

   "I love you Rainestorm."

   "I love you too."
