Katrina’s sister’s killer turned out to be Philips.
Philips was Cassie’s boyfriend before she had an arranged marriage with Aaron. It turned out that her sister had still been in touch with him even after getting married to Aaron.
And Philips, enraged that Cassie had married another man, planned her murder and carried it out during one of the nights Cassie had sneaked out to meet him.
Philips confessed all that, after being arrested, while in police custody.
And those phone call conversations Katrina had overheard Aaron having about her sister were actually with the investigators.
Aaron had confessed to her that his statement about Cassie having it coming was due to the fact that she didn’t listen to his warning when he found out that she was seeing someone outside.
Aaron had asked the investigators to act fast because he was eager to uncover the truth and relay it to Katrina who he thought had started suspecting him.
A soft sigh left Katrina’s lips as she pushed those thoughts aside. It had been four months since the incident. Thinking about it would only affect her mood.
She picked up the tray of snacks from the kitchen’s island and walked out to the living room where Aaron was sitting on a couch and watching TV.
Katrina sat beside him and placed the tray on a small table nearby.
“Will you finish all these?” Aaron glanced at the tray as he pulled her close to him by wrapping his hand around her shoulder.
“Nope.” Katrina grinned and rested her head on his chest. “I was thinking we could share it.”
“Better.” Aaron placed his palm on the tiny bump in her stomach. “We don’t want you feeling discomfort, right?”
“Mm.” Katrina agreed. “I will only eat a few.”Her attention strayed to the TV, and while Aaron’s palm was on her stomach, caressing her bump, Katrina was engrossed in watching the program.
Then his phone rang, breaking the serene atmosphere.
Katrina frowned and looked up from his chest.
“It’s my assistant,” Aaron explained after picking up his phone which sat beside him.
Katrina pursed her lips as he answered the call. How diligent of her. She always knew the right time to phone him. What was the problem with her?
And after Aaron hung up, Katrina knew what was coming next.
“I have a zoom meeting with her,” he said and tried to stand up. “It will only take thirty minutes.”
Katrina shook her head and held him back. The thirty minutes might turn into an hour, and she didn’t like the way his assistant dressed during those video meetings. Sometimes, Katrina would listen to what they were talking about, and it always turned out to be something intangible. Something that she could report to him even during the day at work.
“Aaron,” she whined and tugged at his sleeve.
Aaron sat back instantly and his eyes flashed with worry. “Do you want something?”
“No.” Katrina pouted. “Your assistant- I don’t like her.”
Aaron’s brows furrowed and he studied her expression.
“You don’t like her?” he asked and Katrina nodded.
Then Aaron chuckled. He laughed and pinned her down on the couch.
“Why don’t you like my assistant, Kat?”
Katrina pressed her lips together.
“Because you’re afraid she will come between us?”
Aaron seemed to be reading her thoughts.
Katrina blinked and nodded innocently.
“Then I’m going to fire her.” Aaron leaned forward and pecked her lips. “You only need to say the words, Kat. I can replace all the employees in the company if you wish so.”
Katrina’s lips curled into a smile. She didn’t need him to fire all his employees. They were, nonetheless, her employees too. Because now, she owned almost half the company.
When Aaron talked about the stakeholders’ meeting and inquired about her shares, it was all because he wanted her sister’s shares to be given to her instead of him. And he would help her exchange her assets for more shares.
Right now, Katrina’s shares was almost on par with his. She owned forty percent of the shares in his company, and thirty percent in her father’s company.THE END
