With Vernon's ass gone without a trace for good, the Fed's had no choice but to back off of the frivolous charges against Lu and the SEC should be close to suspending their investigation as well.
Yet and still, that fuckin' goblin-looking ass prosecutor is doing her very best to try and prolong things. Grasping at straws, dragging this mess out for as long as possible.
Yes, our company was started with dope money, but Vernon and Lucious did such a good job of cooking the books and funneling the cash through various different companies and investment properties that there's no evidence to show the true origins of the start-up money.
Now, things are somewhat back to business as usual, but the investigation against us and Roxanne Ford's smear campaign against Lucious and I hit hard. My prison time was brought up but they couldn't figure out how to connect the paper trail, yet the damage to our image has been done.
As I reclined in my seat, interviewing the fifth concert promoter of the day to spear head my brilliant show idea that'll help rebuild Empire's reputation and our family brand, I exhaled.
"So, Mr. Delgado. I'm sure you're well aware of all the messiness that's surrounded this company over these past few months, which is why we want to throw this concert on such a large scale. Unfortunately, it's been a lot more difficult to find someone willing to work with us right now, than expected, but hopefully you'll be up for the task if selected." I uttered towards the very handsome and well-dressed Latino man lounging in front of my desk, continuously flashing me a dazzling smile all the while.
"Yes of course I'm well aware of all that's been said in the media but see unlike most of the other promoters you've talked with, I enjoy a challenge. Especially when such a beautiful woman is involved and please, call me Laz." He confidently finessed, prompting me to blush in response to his sly complement.
"Well, that's excellent to know Laz. My husband and I want to put on a massive event in Central Park or maybe a huge arena, that's gonna feature most of Empire's top artist including our sons Jamal and Hakeem." I explained as he nodded along with my vision.
"We're trying to rebuild this company's image so all of the proceeds will be going to charity of course, but we need a promoter who can market this event on a national level, you think you're up for it?" I quizzed as he gazed at me through sultry and intense eyes.
"Mrs. Lyon, I'm a man of many talents. I'm definitely UP for whatever you'd like done, so it would be an honor to help you pull this event together." He smoothly replied, then licked his lips.
"Great. I'll be in touch by weeks end so that you can meet with Lucious, and we can all review the details." I advised.
We both rose from our seats, and I shook his hand. Strutting from around my desk, we headed towards the door, feeling his eyes trailing my body as I opened it.
Taken aback, my breath hitched in my throat, by the sight of what met me on the other end.
"Malcolm?" I chirped.
A smile sweeping over his face, he stood there with a beautiful arrangement of Calla Lilli's in hand and his eyes lit up once our gazes connected.
"What on earth are you doing here?" I sang. Laz standing beside me, taking in the scene.
"Well, I was in town on business. I also heard about what's been going on so, I just wanted to stop by and check in on how you're doing? But from the looks of things, I can see you're busy so maybe I should just come back another time." He replied, his milk chocolate peepers sizing up the specimen preparing to leave.
