12. ❝𝐇𝐮𝐠𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬❞

Luna was seated outside on the little stairs in front of her house. she could hear reporters, civilians and police officers who tried to keep the crowd out and calm them down. She pulled her knees to her chest and rested her face in her hands.

she spend twenty minutes trying to convince her dad she was fine and that he could talk to the sheriff inside the house. Luna thought about everything that happened and it all felt not real. she wasn't allowed to go to the hospital until the sheriff knew the whole story. she knew her mom was probably in surgery and sitting inside the hospital waiting would be to much for her.

"LUNA." she heard a familiar voice call out to her. she looked up from her hands to see Sarah outside the tape. with Rafe, Ward, Rose and Wheezie. Luna immediately stood up and ignored the officers that were telling her to stay back and ran over to Sarah embracing her with a big hug, releasing everything she felt. Sarah closed her eyes and hugged the girl tightly. Rafe stared at the girl. something inside of him broke seeing her in the state she was in. her hands and clothes were covered in dried blood while her mascara was all smudged out. he felt something he'd never really felt before. guilt and pitty. Luna was his friend but he didn't know what to do in a situation like this. he wanted to hug her and tell her everything was going to be ok.

"W-what happened." Sarah asked softly breaking the hug. "uhm shit where do i start." Luna chuckled. after she told them the whole story ward decided to testify to the police. minus the part he buried a body of course.

"hey Sneezie isn't it past your bed time." Luna smiled wiping away her tears, looking down at the younger girl. "Couldn't sleep cause of the sirens." Wheezie replied smiling sadly. "well sorry your beauty sleep got disturbed." Luna said and felt the younger girl wrapping her arms around herself. "i'm sorry this happened to you." Wheezie apologised hugging her. Luna closed her eyes and rested her head on wheezie's head. after the hug Rose went home with wheezie after hugging Luna telling her that if she needed something she could always come over. Sarah on the other hand went to find her dad leaving Rafe and Luna.

Luna sighed and looked down waiting for him to say something. she just wanted him to say something. Rafe on the other hand stood there looking at the girl. he knew she was waiting for him to say something.

"are you uhm ok." Rafe asked painfully awkward. Luna chuckled and tilted her head up to look at the taller boy. "No." her voice broke. "but i will be." she smiled sadly.

"look i know this is not what you want to hear but i'm sorry." Rafe said genuinely. "i appreciate that. i'm happy it's all over. and i want to thank you for giving me the information. i don't think i could've done it without your help." Luna confessed giving Rafe a small smile. He couldn't help but stare at her. he was shocked she could still even smile or talk. he caught himself staring at her until he broke the silence.

"is there anything you need." He asked her genuinely. "Actually there is. could you drive me to the hospital." she replied. he stayed quite for a few seconds and observed her again. he could see how red and puffy her eyes were from the crying he assumed.

"Rafe stop looking so worried." she caught him staring at her. "i'm not looking worried. I know I'm not good at this but I want you to know if you need anything-" he tried to defend himself but got caught off by a sudden force crashing itself into his body. Luna wrapped her arms around the taller boy and it took him a second to realise what was happening before wrapping his arms around her waist. Luna could feel the warmth his body radiated. she stood on her toes and rested her head on his shoulder.

"i know your not good at this but you don't have to say anything." Luna whispered to the boy. she didn't need words. she needed a friend to hold her.

after what felt like hours someone cleared their throat behind the two. Luna unleashed her arms and turned around to see that her dad was the one who just cleared his throat.

"oh. hi dad." she said awkwardly causing Rowan to raise his eyebrow. "Rafe this is my dad. dad this is Rafe Cameron." Luna introduced the two to each other. Rowan and Rafe nodded to each other and shook hands.

"Luna i think it's better for you to clean up first and then we head to the hospital." Rowan claimed looking at his daughter. "no. i wanna go to the hospital first. i can't relax until i know that my mom is ok." Luna shook her head not agreeing with her dad.

"but with all the bl-."

"no. i don't care." she interrupted him. Rowan sighed and finally gave in. "i can drive the two of you." Rafe offered from behind Luna. knowing it's not a great idea to let either Luna or Rowan drive in the state the two of them were in.

"you would do that." Luna stated bluntly as she turned around to face the taller boy. "yeah of course. you asked me too." he answered.

"Thank you. let's go then." Rowan thanked the boy and followed him to his car.

"your lucky your on my dad's good side. Cameron." Luna smiled at him and padded the boy's shoulder.

After Rafe dropped off the father-daughter duo, they immediately walked in and told the front desk they were coming to see Amelia. the receptionist told them that Amelia is now in surgery. during the hour, Luna received messages from the pogues and Lennon. she told them what happened and that she was at the hospital. Luna was now in the waiting room with her father. she had fallen asleep with her head resting on her father's shoulder. Rowan, on the other hand, couldn't sleep until he was reassured about Amelia's situation.

"Rowan Madden." A doctor came into sight. as Luna heard his voice she immediately got up. "Family of Amelia Madden right." the doctor asked the pair causing them to nod in response.

"Amelia is now out of surgery. we could successfully stitch up the stab wound without damaging the organs. she lost a lot of blood internally that we successfully stop. which is good news. we found out in surgery that there was a wound visible on the back of her head. she is alive and stable for now. she just needs a lot of rest. you can come back tomorrow to visit her. the priority for now is to let the patient rest. if the patient would come in a minute later she wouldn't have made it. you did good." the doctor explained and both Luna and her father felt a huge relief.

"Thank you doctor." Rowan shook the doctor's hand.

"i am so happy i could kiss his face for the news he gave us." Luna said in relief causing her father to glare at him. "not that i'm gonna do that of course." Luna scoffed offering her father an awkward forced smile.

"we should head out." Rowan told his daughter getting ready to leave only for him to notice that Luna wasn't moving an inch. "what's wrong Lulu." he asked her a bit concerned.

"Since they locked up the house, I can't go anywhere." Luna looked down a but ashamed. "Lulu don't be stupid your going back with me. but since ward's house is the closest to the hospital it will be better if we stay there for the night. i have some things to discuss with him. you can also lend Sarah's clothes for tomorrow." Rowan chuckled causing Luna to raise her head giving her dad a small smile.

 "let's go." Rowan said as they both exited the hospital on their way to the cameron household.
