My fingers darted across the keyboard as I was desperately typing up more ideas I had for my novel. I was an author and had a couple of published works but I had hit a dead end recently, although in the past hour inspiration hit me, so I rapidly tried to get all of the ideas out so that I wouldn't forget them. I didn't even tear my eyes away from my computer screen, that was until the front door opened and the sound of my boyfriends stomps entered the porch.
One glance back was all it took for the ideas to fly out of my mind. I punched the kotatsu and swore under my breath, but when I saw the state of Keishin I knew that whatever was going on with him was much worse. Without even saying hello he went to the sofa, collapsed on it and rested his head in his hands. "Baby?" I whispered, closing my laptop and knowing that my ideas could wait - Keishin was more important.
"Hey," he mumbled without looking up. I sat next to him and rested my head against his shoulder in a loving and gentle way. He sighed and leant back on the sofa, taking me with him and wrapping his arm around me. "Sorry, I just..."
"Hey, don't be sorry. You can tell me what's wrong you know," I said encouragingly, hoping he would confine in me.
"We've got the Spring Tournament coming up... I'm not doubting the boys at all but we're gonna be playing against difficult opponents, teams we've never been up against and teams I've never even seen before. I've got to get information on all of them before the tournament, I've got to devise a practice scheme, I've got to-,"
"Slow down Keishin! Slow down," I rubbed his chest and he sighed, pinching his nose.
"What if I'm not cut out for this coaching business? I'm not my grandad after all," he said. "I couldn't take them to the inter-highs."
"That's not on you," I said firmly.
"I'm their coach (y/n), it's all on me."
"You're putting unnecessary pressure on yourself-," I said but he scoffed. "I mean it Keishin. Look, you're not like your grandfather, that is true. But think about how Karasuno was before you came along. They couldn't make it to the prelims, the inter-high, the spring tournament- they were the 'fallen crows'. Then you come along. You coach them and suddenly they reach the third round of the prelims? And it was such a close match as well! Not only that but you've managed to set up practice matches and summer camps, you've spent hours devising plans for them, getting them to hone their skills and bringing them together to work as a team. Babe, you're the best coach they could've ever asked for."
He remained silent, staring at me and looking as though he was trying to let the words sink in. I cupped his cheek and pulled him in for a deep kiss. "You think so?" Was all he could say and I smiled.
"I know so. Without you they wouldn't of been able to get this far, even with the good first years. The team will be doing their research on their opponents as well, the captains good and that stuff isn't he?"
"Yeah, I don't think I've seen a captain as good as him," he admitted.
"And if you get really stressed about it then I'm here if you need me to do anything-,"
"No babe, no... you've got your own work to deal with, I don't wanna interrupt," he said and I smiled. "You were working on something when I came in weren't you?"
"I was, but this is more important," I said, burying my head against his chest. He kissed my forehead and ran his fingertips through my hair, the two of us simply laying there for a moment.
