I sat in the park near my house, tears streaking down my face. I wanted nothing more than to end things with him, but the humiliating pictures he held over my head prevented me from doing so. I let out a small sniffle but stiffened when I heard footsteps approach me. "(y/n)?" The unexpected voice of Suna, the twins' friend, spoke.
I looked up to see him stood above me, straight-faced as usual and dressed in a black sweatshirt and baggy jeans; it was the weekend after all. "S-Suna," I quickly wiped my face, trying to ride any evidence of my tears but it was impossible.
"Why are you crying?" He asked plainly and I furrowed my eyebrows.
"It's none of yer business," I said sternly and I went to walk away but his next words stopped me.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry," he said soothingly and I turned back to face him. He was good company - I enjoyed being with him when we studied at the Miya's house. We always ended up sitting next to each other and our personalities clicked. "Here," he pulled a tissues from the bag he had slung over his shoulder and handed it to me. I let out a breathy laugh and took it.
"Thanks... it's just somethin' very... personal," I whispered and he shrugged.
"You don't have to tell me," he said nonchalantly and I appreciated his respect. "You shouldn't be crying on your own though." There was an empty seat on the bench beside me which I offered him and he quietly sat down. The silence was comforting and I cracked a smile at his kindness, even if it was discreet. I imagined most people to pressure the upset party into telling them what was wrong, or walking away without bothering to comfort them, but Suna was somehow doing what I found most consoling: simply keeping me company.
I let out a few more tears and a few more sniffles, him handing me yet another tissue. At this action I couldn't help but laugh and look him in his dark eyes, them somehow smiling despite his lips not doing so. "Thank you," I croaked.
"Do the twins know what's wrong?" He asked quietly and I shook my head.
"Nobody does... it's humiliatin'," I whispered.
"It's to do with your boyfriend isn't it," Suna said and I raised my eyebrows, surprised he knew I even had one but then I assumed the twins must have said something. I just nodded and rested my head on my palms, my elbows on my knees.
"W-we got together six months ago and I- I stupidly let him... take pictures of us... of me... in very private situations," I finally mumbled, getting it off of my chest. "Ya must think I'm stupid and gross, huh?"
"No. It's the kind of things couples do sometimes... why haven't you told anyone?" He asked and I scoffed.
"Why do ya think? It's humiliatin'!" I cried out.
"He's threatening you with them isn't he?" He asked and I nodded. "That's why you're with him. He'll leak them if you end things."
"Yer pretty smart," I laughed a hollow laugh. "I- I don' know what to do," I couldn't help but break down again, hiding my head in my hands. To my surprise Suna reached out and placed his hand on my back in an attempt to be physically comforting, and I appreciated the gesture. Once again he was quiet, letting me release my emotions for a few moments.
When I finally felt calm again I looked at him and felt warmth inside of me. His dark eyes were smiling, even if his lips weren't. I stared at him for a moment, my eyes glued to his and just his presence was making me feel happy again. Despite only knowing him for a little while, I felt comfortable with him. "He makes you cry. You need to break up with him."
