I sat in the bathtub filled with warm water, scented oils and bubbles with my knees bent up to my chest and my arms folded on top of them.
I faced the familiar plain wall with drowsy eyes, the soothing caresses, deep strokes and light kisses to my damp hair and supple back dissolving the tension in my muscles completely and turning it into something growingly pleasant and relaxing.
I'd been sitting in here for what felt like hours, thinking deeply, overthinking more and building fantasies in my head where I wasn't a damsel in distress, a broken vessel with widening cracks.
Xavier's presence felt God-sent, his delicate touch speaking to the deepest parts of my weary muscles and bringing them back to life while he silently checked up on me and how I was handling the stress.
The stolen glances he gave me comforted me in ways I didn't know I needed, the care lacing his eyes giving me hope tomorrow would be better.
He'd prepared this soothing bath for me right after partly feeding me some soup and concussion that'd been left prepared in the kitchen before calling in his personal assistant or someone along those lines to reschedule everything he had planned for the day.
Now, he sat on the edge of the bathtub with my permission, silently calming the storm in my head and comforting me.
I hadn't felt so special and cared for in ages. I wasn't even sure I deserved it to begin with, but it just felt nice knowing someone was there and his presence felt genuine and thoughtful.
Xavier's fingers doodled down my neck to my back in light swirls before he fully pressed his fingertips into the exposed part of my back.
I fluttered my eyes closed with a small smile touching my lips, feeling his fingers draw circles and other shapes I couldn't decipher into my back.
I could feel the scented bubbles burst lightly on my skin followed by his fingertips tracing every muscle. I could fall asleep to this sensation, but I didn't want that.
I wanted to feel everything and remember it all when it'd all fade away and the reality switch was flipped back on.
I chuckled lightly when I felt him doodle my name onto my back but stopped midway through writing it. Tilting my head diligently to face him, my smile grew a bit wider and livelier.
"You left the A," I murmured, looking up at his face.
Xavier seemed to smile softly, relief melting away the tension in his facial muscles.
He'd taken off his jacket, leaving him in his vest and shirt with its sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Somehow, he still looked neat and hotter even with his hands and part of his arms exposed.
Xavier's hand lay flat on my back with his palm rubbing my skin lightly before he lifted it to my forehead to feel my temperature. "Your fever's gone down significantly," he noted with a shallow sigh of relief. "Feeling any better now?" he asked.
