I walked around Sebastian's SUV to the driver's seat where he sat and knocked on the window.

He pulled it down within a second before leaning his elbow against the door frame with his chin resting on top of his forearm while he looked at me.

Those eyes. They were full of so much sadness it made my heart clench harder than it had when he'd told me he was depressed.

Had he been this sad in the morning before he dropped me off? How could I have missed something so prominent despite his efforts to mask it with a smile?

"I must admit when we talked on the phone earlier, I was a little bit dramatic and shouldn't have made the conversation that deep," he started, his lips stretching even wider.

If only he knew his eyes told a completely different story, he wouldn't even be trying to pretend he was okay. He wasn't and he'd told me. I needed to do something about it.

"Can you step out of the car, Sebastian?" I asked him. "I just need a minute."

He nodded, sitting straight and vividly confused by what I would do. He opened the door and got out of the car to stand before me.

For a short while, I didn't move and neither did he, the two of us just staring at each other.

"Elena?" Sebastian called my name with a fleeting chuckle of confusion. "Is everything okay?"

I mustered all the courage I had in me and took a step towards him, closing the gap between us. I acted on impulse before I could change my mind and wrapped my arms around him.

My hands were wide open and resting on his back, slowly closing him in and inviting him for a bit of a squeeze. Since he was taller than me, my forehead rested on his chest and I could hear his heartbeat escalate from calmness to full hard thumps.

For a few seconds, he neither moved nor did anything grand, but I could feel and hear him release a shaky breath before he slowly wrapped his arms around him.

His arms were big enough to make me feel ensconced in his embrace and tightening so much around me I could feel him begin to tremble and breathe more through his mouth.

Sebastian dropped his head onto my shoulder, his head aligning with mine so well our ears were pressed together. I could feel his body warmth so close and the longer we stayed in this embrace, the higher his temperature seemed to rise.

He was crying, I could feel it in the way he held on so desperately and tightly. I could feel his tears sip through the strap of my dress onto my skin.

"Sebastian—"

"I'm not gonna hurt you," he sobbed, loosening his grip on me but still holding onto me firmly. "Please, don't let go."

I didn't let go of him. My heart wouldn't let me even if I tried to. I was easily moved to tears, my heart sinking lower.
