Summary: Ominis tells you about his homelife

Ominis had been looking upset ever since we came back from the Scriptorium and he told Sebastian and me to leave him alone, I watched him leave and Sebastian heaved a deep sigh. i looked away from Ominis retreating figure and back at the brown-haired boy "What was that all about?" i asked Sebastian who combed his fingers through his hair "I'm really not in the position to tell you if you want to know you need to aks Ominis himself" i sighed in frustration, Sebastian normally told me everything, merlin, he even told me about the Undercroftw which Ominis wasn't happy with at first.

Sebastian walked away from me and opened the doors to the Slytherin common room after muttering the password, i stood there for a few more minutes before giving up and running in the direction Ominis went so i could talk to him.

luckily he wasn't too far away and i caught up to him "Ominis!" he stopped walking and back up to the wall to avoid bumping into anyone. his wand had a familiar red glow on the tip of it that slowly dimmed as he lowered his wand. "i told you to leave me alone (Y/N)" he said and i halted in my steps "i know but i couldn't shake the weird feeling that i got and i asked Sebastian but he wouldn't tell me and he told me to ask you so that's why i-" he held his hand up in front of my face "enough, you are rambling" i gulped and looked away from him "sorry"

he sighed and let his hand fall back to his side "i do not wish to speak about it" My brows furrowed at his sharp tone and i watched him clench his jaw, he was getting frustrated "You do not need to know everything about me, you already know about the Undercroft which you were not supposed to know about, you convince Sebastian to do dangerous stuff and you do not even know us well. you came here this year (Y/N) so do not think that i trust you just like that"

he basically lectured me in the hall, i felt tears building up in my eyes and lowered my head, i could hear people around us whispering about what just happened, great. i wiped my tears away and looked back up at Ominis "Well i hope that whatever you are searching for will not be too far up your ass, good luck with your life Gaunt" and with that, i walked away and back down to the dungeons.

i arrived by the entrance and the two snakes curled up revealing the door "Aspiration" i muttered and pushed the heavy doors open and let it fall closed behind me. i walked down the spiral staircase and walked in the direction of the common room "Hey (Y/N)! you talked to Ominis?" Sebastian asked looking back at me from the fire "Leave me alone Sebastian" i walked to my dorm and lay down on my bed.

i get he might have been frustrated but i only wanted to help, saying he didn't trust me and that i completely invaded his privacy is just ridiculous.

it had been a few days now and to be honest, i was avoiding Ominis. i was still a bit angry about him lecturing me in the open hallway where students were but i could understand his outburst and i shouldn't have followed after him after he told us to give him time.

it was late at night and I was reading a book on my bed when someone suddenly knocked, my brows furrowed in confusion but I put down my book and walked over to the door "Yes" I sighed as I opened the door, and to my surprise, Ominis Gaunt stood on the other side of it "Ominis" slipped from between my lips.

"hi (Y/N), I was wondering if I could come in" he gestured to the inside of my dorm room, my roommates were out since it was a Hogsmeade weekend, I bit the inside of my cheek before nodding and opening the door a little wider and stepping aside for him as he walked into my dorm room.

he held his wand up and stood there in the middle of the room "You can sit on my bed, It is on your left" he hesitantly nodded and went over to my bed and sat down on it putting his wand away. i walked up next to him and sat down "So why are you here?" i asked him, i didn't want to beat around the bush with how things were with us.

he cleared his throat and turned to me "i am sorry for how i lashed out at you" he said and my eyes widened, i wasn't expecting an apology, and definitely not one from Ominis Gaunt himself. "you do not have to apologize Ominis, i was wrong to ask you and i know your family is not something you talk about"

"i told you i do not trust you, i do, and i want to tell you" My eyes widened in disbelief "Are you sure Ominis?" i asked him not really he changed his mind in two days but he nodded "I am, but please, do not judge me after I am done speaking" I reached out and squeezed his hand in reassurance and he took a deep breath before he started his story.

"as you know I and a descendant of Salazar Slytherin, I speak parseltongue. but my family is exactly like that man, they believe only purebloods are good enough to wield magic. i never had a problem with their beliefs, I never believed it in myself but one night they asked me to perform the Cruciatus Curse on an innocent person, just for fun they said. i refused to torture someone who did not do anything, I angered my parents and they let my siblings perform the curse on me instead...that is why I reacted that way to the cast in the Scriptorium. my family life is not good, that is why I normally stay here during breaks or accompany Sebastian"

my breath was taken away by his story, he hadn't raised his head once but I could feel him shaking in the hold of my hand. i let go of his hand and wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him "I am so sorry that happened to you Ominis, you are nothing like them and you are an amazing person" I felt his arms wrap around my waist and his hold on me tighten ever so slightly.

we stayed quiet and suddenly I felt some wetness on my shirt and then I heard some sniffles coming from the boy I was hugging "If you tell Sebastian i am never forgiving you" he squeezed me once again" i giggled and nodded in the crook of his neck "i will not tell a soul, Ominis"
