Summary: your brother doesn't like your boyfriend

(Y/n) was sat with Regulus in the courtyard, he was reading a book while his head was on her lap. And (y/n) herself was also reading a book while combing her free hand through Regulus's black curls, it calmed them both down but Regulus would never admit to that.

But they enjoyed their peace and quiet while basking in the sunlight that had finally broken through the heavy clouds that had been looming around Hogwarts for the past two weeks. But those nice things soon disappeared as a big shadow loomed over the two of them and (y/n) sighed already knowing who would do such a thing.

Regulus and (Y/n) started dating back at the end of the fourth year and now in their sixth, they were one of the power couples at Hogwarts, besides Alice and Frank of course. everyone in the castle knew when they started dating, they were inseparable from each other so when you needed to find (Y/n), you just needed to look out for Regulus and the same the other way around. but it was also clear to the whole school that her older brother, James Potter, was anything besides happy when he found out, he didn't like Regulus to this very day.

(Y/n) looked up from her book and the hand in Regulus's hair froze which made him stop reading and look up at her to see what was happening. (Y/n) sighed when she saw her brother, Sirius, Remus, and Peter who was hiding in the back like always, standing in front of her. James and Sirius stood there with frowns on their faces while Remus and Peter looked like they wanted to be anywhere but in the courtyard right now.

"Seriously? Can't you two take a break from each other?" James mocked them, Regulus groaned and sat up closing his book in the meantime. he looked back at James, even though the guy was almost two years older the black-haired boy didn't care, he was so fed up with them commenting on their relationship, and besides, couldn't they have waited until lunch?

"Could you back off? We're trying to enjoy our free period" (Y/n) watched as her brother clenched his teeth and balled up his fists, that can't be good "Listen here Black-" before he could say anything else (Y/n) shot up from the bench she and Regulus were sitting on and stood between her brother and boyfriend who were holding a staring contest, by now they had gotten the attention of everyone in the courtyard too.

"why are you still doing this James?" she asked him, she had asked him the question so many times but he never gave up and continued to try and break the two up, James scoffed and pointed at the younger Black brother who stared right at him as James criticized him for the thousand times. 

"Because he isn't enough for you, you're way too good for him (Y/n)" now (Y/n) had enough. Time (Y/n) scoffed and took a step forward shoving James's chest, he stumbled back into Sirius and Remus who both managed to put a hand on his back so he wouldn't stumble and take a fall while Peter stepped back quite started by the action of the Ravenclaw girl.

"he is good enough for me! if anything you should stay away from Lily, you have asked her out countless times and she's always said no to you in the most hurtful ways, you are too good for her but you still chase her" By now her brother was fuming and Regulus slowly got up and grasped (Y/n)'s hand pulling her back a bit just in case they were going to swing at each other.

"Don't mention Lily Flower" James quietly hissed at her with an icy glare before looking around the courtyard finally noticing that everyone was basically watching them like they were some kind of comedy show, in return (Y/n) shrugged, she held onto Regulus's hand tightly and shrugged "Don't mention my relationship and we're fine, we'll be going now" The two made their way out of the courtyard.

(Y/n) dragged Regulus into the corridor inside and huffed in annoyance. She let go of him and let herself fall back against the wall. Regulus watched her with a sad smile on his face as he approached her "Love?" (Y/n) opened her eyes and smiled at her boyfriend "i don't know what's wrong with him" (Y/n) didn't want to admit it but she was so frustrated she wanted to cry, hit something, preferably her brother.

Regulus pulled her into a lazy hug, stroking her hair as she hugged him back, he could feel her bunching up his robes by his back "Don't worry Love, he's just James, why do you think he's friends with my brother?" at that she laughed. 

(Y/n) pulled back ever so slightly "You're not going to break up with me, right?" Regulus's eyes widened and he pulled his hands away from her, (Y/n) frowned but Regulus quickly reached out to her face and cupped her cheeks "You're insane if you think i would break up with you because of your idiotic brother"

(Y/n) smiled brightly and wrapped her arms around his neck as she stood on her tippy-toes, Regulus smiled and met her in the middle. every time they kissed it felt like fireworks went off in the sky. at moments like these, they didn't care about anyone. it was just the two of them and even if James didn't like Regulus, (Y/n) did and he would just have to deal with it, or close his eyes.
