You watched Ajax intently, crossing your arms, raising an eyebrow as you waited to see how he was going to get himself out of this one.
"Superpowers, Akashi? Well now, that's just stupid. You must have been seeing things. Such things don't exist in this world, only in movies and comic books."
He playfully poked Elio in the cheek.
"Anyhoo, what are we ordering?"
Elio blinked twice.
"I guess you're right, Gingerbread. But I can swear I saw that water moving!"
"Maybe you're so hungry you're seeing things."
As if on cue, Elio's stomach rumbled audibly.
"Hmm... I guess you're right again. Gee, you're almost as smart as Smurfette!"
"Smurfette?"
"That's me." you sighed, putting a hand up. "He gives everyone nicknames."
At this, Ajax let out a sweet laugh.
"And I guess this is why I'm called Gingerbread?" he asked Elio, pointing at his hair.
"Precisely. Your full name is Gingerbread Man, but that's a mouthful."
Ajax chuckled again.
"Alright then, buddy."
The waitress comes over to the four of you.
"What would you guys like to-"
"Four beef sandwiches with extra mayo and no olives. Sprinkle a little more cheese in and replace the cabbage with lettuce. Thank you!"
Ajax just stared wide-eyed at him.
"You're ordering for all of us?"
"Nope, just for me." Elio said, crossing his arms and leaning back, blowing his hair out of his face with a smirk. "That's just a small snack before I go home and have dinner."
"Small snack... huh, what an appetite."
Mura giggled.
"He eats a lot." she explained.
"I can see... well, it's not going to go unmatched."
He puffed out his chest and faced the waitress, who was still busy scribbling down Elio's order.
"That'll be five tuna sandwiches with sweetcorn and peppers, but no green peppers, please."
"Ajax-" you warned.
"Oh, really?" Elio scoffed. "Is that how you're playing it? Okay then, Miss Waitress, make that six sandwiches and a slice of pie!"
"Oh my God..." Mura muttered.
The waitress looked confused and hesitantly scribbled something down.
"Okay..." she said slowly, walking away swiftly before they could order more food. Elio burst out laughing.
"I think I'm going to like being around you already, Gingerbread!"
You looked to Mura and you only exhaled out. When the food came, Ajax looked a little sickly.
"Um... I'm not sure I can finish all this..." he said sadly.
"It's your fault you tried to outdo the eating champ!" Elio said, mouth full already with pie. "If you can't finish, I'll gladly do the honours."
You smiled sympathetically, reaching out to take a sandwich for yourself from Ajax's plate.
"It won't go to waste completely... you could say you bought me lunch."
