Something in you told you that this was a terribly idiotic idea, as you sit in the window seat of the Jeep that had come to pick up Ajax from school.
The sweet, young driver had been reluctant to let you in with Ajax, but after some pleading from the ginger-haired boy, he gave in and opened the car door. You had thanked him and clambered in, setting your schoolbag in between yourself and Ajax.
He was focused on the scenery out the window as we started out onto the highway. And you were focused on him. One of his hands caressed his chest, where you had stabbed him earlier. You almost felt bad.
It wouldn't kill him, but it must've hurt.
Isn't this what you were brought to him to do?
Your story can't be one of friendship or even anything more. You have to be responsible. You can't let your heart go to him...
... however much you wanted to.
He turned his head lazily and caught your gaze. He smiled, his eyes tired.
"What are you looking at, girlie?"
"Ah! Nothing! Nothing much..."
"I think you'd be better off telling me that you find me attractive-"
"Hey! No!"
You felt heat scald your neck and climb up your face as he laughed.
"Alright then." he teased. "I'll just sit back and let you ogle me all you want."
He shuffled further into his seat and tilted his head back, hands going to the top of his shirt collar.
"God, am I exhausted..."
He unbuttoned at least half his shirt and loosened his tie, giving a big, heavy sigh. You quickly looked the other way and decided to be interested in the trees flashing by. You tried not to think of his hand on the small of your back this morning, or how he held you back by your waist.

Ajax had his own private quarters in the Ministry of Defence's estate, in their main building. The security guard was a frowning woman of ample stature, and when she saw you standing beside Ajax, who hadn't even bothered fixing his clothes back up, she gave you a look bordering on disgust.
You get why adults would dislike Ajax, but to be greeted by faces like these after a long day at school had to be mentally exhausted.
"Excuse me, miss," he told her, "but I would request that you don't breathe a word of her presence here to the Minister."
You wondered what he would say if he saw you here with Ajax. It probably wouldn't end well at all. The woman glared at Ajax, and then turned on you.
"You better get lost within the next two hours, hear me?"
You nodded politely, although you were a young lady that, in your opinion, should be treated with respect. You held your head higher than hers and placed a hand on your hip, almost strutting past her. Ajax grinned and caught up with you.
"Let me bring you to my place! Trust me, it's not the coolest thing on the planet, but it's cozy!"
He dragged you by the sleeve and you lost composure as you stumbled after him, being forced to run. You weren't going fast, but you were still breathless through it all. He turned to me and beamed.
"Come on, come on!"
He seemed to be really excited about me coming over, which you had at first been hesitant to do due to the nature of where he lived... but he had insisted, nearly begged even. And you had thought to yourself... what were I going to do at your caravan?
