They drove in silence. Happy wasn't his name to say the least, nor was Peter if he was honest to himself. It was always a relief to see Morgan, even though the sight of her stinged his eyes, filled with tears he tried to keep his emotions intact. It was her father who died, not his. Not his...
Morgan ran up to the car, excited to see Peter, her big brother. The boy lifted her up into the air and airplane her in a circle. The little girl giggled as Peter set her down on the ground.
"Peter, look at my new shoes!" she laughed.
She spun in a circle to take off her boots.
"Woah, that's sick!" Peter replied, "I wish I could get something like that."
Peter smiled to himself knowing that he was finally home.
"I have $5 you know, I think I'm rich." said Morgan as any little girl would, "I can buy you some and we can match!"
Morgan grabbed Peter's hand and pulled him inside where Pepper was smiling with teary eyes.
"She missed you, you know." she started, "I'm so glad you're here."
Peter looked at Pepper and smiled. A genuine smile. His first genuine smile to Pepper ever.
He hasn't ever been able to show his true feelings towards Pepper, so he always gave a fake half version of it. But the pain of Peter's past had finally stopped outweighing hope for his future.
"I'm glad I'm here too." he managed to say.
Pepper seemed relieved. Maybe his avoidance was more noticeable than he thought.
Once Happy helped bring in Peter's luggage, he turned to Pepper.
"Good luck with this one." the agent jokes.
Peter playfully glared at him as Happy closed the door tightly.
"Well, it's just us for the time being." said Pepper.
"Yeah!" Morgan yelled, clapping her hands in excitement, "It'll be 3,000 times more fun!"
...
Peter had been here for quite a while now. Sure seemed like a long time, but it's gone by fast.
Every morning he got up to wake up to the sound of Morgan, singing throughout the cabin.
Everyday when he gets back from the Avengers' compound, she's waiting there on the steps. She'd run up to Peter as if it had been months.
And not a day passed where he couldn't count the seconds until he got to see them again.
It'd get lonely here and there. Sure, there were plenty of Avengers to talk to. The problem was however; They were more older and experienced. Peter always felt like he was a toddler in comparecene, learning how to talk.
He wished Ned and he could build the lego Millenium Falcon, or he could see MJ more often.
But even though they were on his side, it was safer for them and for Peter to have little contact. Sure he could see them maybe once a week if he was lucky.
But after a while, it gets tiring. Tonight however was an exception.
"Peter, how come you look so nice?" Morgan asked.
"Are you saying I don't usually look nice?" Peter joked.
"Not this nice."
"Someone's coming over in a few minutes."
