Chrono (Chan x reader)

I Knew It

I open my eyes to total darkness. But as my eyes adjust I make out a figure walking to the door. Is that Jeongin?

"Jeongin? Are you okay?" I call out into the dark.

I get no response.

What I'm assuming is Jeongin continues to walk until the door opens and he walks through, not closing it behind him. That's weird. Maybe he needs to go potty?

I peak through the doorway and into the hall to see a few others following Jeongin.

Okay that's really weird. Are they all going to the bathroom for moral support or something?

Curiosity and worry is getting the best of me. So I creep off of the Chan's bed, careful not the wake him up. I slowly make my way to the bedroom door and peek into the hall. The doors to the other's bedroom's are all open.

As I make my way into the hall I catch a glimpse of someone turning the corner to the front door. What are they doing?

I silently walk closer, avoiding the creeky parts in the floor. When I reach the end of the hallway I carefully peak around the corner.

The porch light illuminates each person walking out of the front door.

Jeongin first.

Then Lilith.

And lastly Hyunjin.

Standing beside the door is a guy I don't recognize.

...

...

Wait.

Oh no.

Oh no no no no.

Upon realization I quickly and quietly make my way back to Chan. As I pass each room I glance inside to make sure we haven't lost anyone else.

When I get back to Chan I make sure he's still in there. When I'm certain the lump in the bed is Chan and not the blanket I kneel by his side.

"Chan! Chan wake up! Please wake up!" I whisper yell, tears forming in my eyes causing a lump in my throat.

"Hm. Y/N? What's wrong?" He says, sitting up and rubbing his eyes quickly.

"They're gone. Chrono was here. I didn't know what was happening. I thought they were going to the bathroom. I would've stopped them if I wasn't so slow. I'm sorry. I should've done something" I reply, tears streaming down my face, my entire body shaking.

"Who's gone? What did you see? Are you sure Chrono was here or did they go out to the car?" He asks, swinging his legs over the side of the bed to sit normally.

"Jeongin, Lilith, and Hyunjin. I tried calling out to Jeongin when I saw him getting up but he didn't answer. He didn't even make any indication that he heard me" I answer, shaking even worse and crying even harder.

"Okay, it's okay. We're going to be okay. They're going to be okay" He says, joining me on the floor and bringing me into his arms to hold me tight.

I break down further once I'm in his arms. Not quite sure what else to do other than cry.

"I'm sorry" I whisper, replaying the previous events.

"It's not your fault. I promise it's not your fault" He assures me, letting a few of his own tears fall.

We hear the front door slam open and closed, followed by hurried footsteps.

"CHAN!"

He lifts his head at the sound of his name.

"CHAN PLEASE! MINHO! ANYONE!"

He begins to stand up, letting go of me. When he's on his feet he reaches out a hand for me to take. I do just that and hold onto his arm for dear life as he makes his way into the hall.

Standing at the end of it is Hyunjin.

Hyunjin??

"Chan he took them. I got away by using something I found off the internet. I thought it was fake so I didn't share. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry" He informs us, falling to his knees.

Chan and I both run and kneel down with him. Wrapping our arms around his torso and telling him it's not his fault.

"What's going on?" Minho says, walking towards us followed by the others and turning on the hall light.

We simply look up at him with our red eyes and tear stained faces.

"No." He says, doing a quick head count upon seeing our fear.

"Where's Jeongin? Lilith?" He asks, shaking his head and pushing Changbin out of the way to search the rooms.

"DAMNIT" We heard from Chan's room.

Chan gets up to go make sure Minho has support. I hesitate letting go of him for a split second and then hug Hyunjin a little tighter.

I knew something was going to happen.

I knew it.

We slept in a puppy pile for the rest of the night with all of the lights on and everything with a lock locked. It wasn't the most comfortable of slumbers but it was good enough considering the situation.

"Alright, Hyunjin can you tell us how to got away?" Minho asks.

"So when Chrono has you in a trance there is a faint metronome type sound in your head. The trick is to make your own off beat metronome sound and match your steps to yours. Then you will feel yourself get pulled out of it and you can run, but only when Chrono isn't looking. That's why it took me so long. I got caught the first time" He answers, cuddled up in Changbin's arms.

"That's actually pretty helpful" Seungmin says, cuddled up in Minho's arms.

"We know how to get out of his trance, but do we know how to prevent the trance in the first place?" Changbin asks.

I grab my notebook, flipping through the pages. I could've sworn I came across something about that.

Aha!

"I have something. It said to stay a couple steps behind him, don't step in synch with him, and have music playing softly in your ears. Basically anything to stay on your own beat and not his" I informed them, placing my notebook down and leaning back into Chan.

"So basically there's no way to prevent it, only ways to get out and stay out of it" Minho says, earning nods in agreement from all of us.

We fall silent. Just cuddled up together. Thinking.

"I think you all know what we need to do" Chan says.

We look at him questioningly. Waiting for an explanation.

"We need to go after him"

Anyways, I think this ff is going to be a bit shorter than my other one. (Fingers crossed that I didn't just jinx that.) So, I'll probably have longer chapters instead of shorter ones.
