Stolen Glances

In crowded halls where whispers hum,
Our fleeting glances softly come,
Across the sea of faces vast,
Our eyes connect, time's moments cast.

A canteen's bustle, noisy throng,
Yet in that crowd, we both belong,
Awkward smiles and loving eyes,
Our secret dance, no words, just ties.

We queue for food, side by side,
But in that line, we can't hide,
Each stolen glance, a tender brush,
Unseen by others, a secret rush.

I see you talking, unaware,
A distant longing, love laid bare,
And in your eyes, I see the same,
A silent message in this game.

Our friends around, they catch the cues,
They sense the love we can't refuse,
They tease and smile, they know it's true,
Yet we stay quiet, just us two.

In stolen glances, hearts entwined,
A dance of souls, so undefined,
We fear to speak, to break the trance,
But deep within, we crave the chance.

A connection strong, like gravity's pull,
But we hold back, our hearts still full,
For fear of change, of what may be,
Yet in those glances, love sets free.

Time moves on, and years have passed,
Yet stolen glances, they'll always last,
In every moment, we both find,
That love's still there, in heart and mind.

So here we stand, in distant gaze,
Lost in love's bittersweet haze,
Our stolen glances, a tender art,
The love that lingers in each heart.
