Heartfelt Confessions

In the halls of youth, a timid heart,
A love that dared not make a start,
In secret glances, I'd steal a gaze,
Admiring you in so many ways.

From afar, I watched you shine,
Wishing your heart could intertwine,
But fear held me in its tight grip,
Afraid to stumble, afraid to trip.

I longed to speak, to let you know,
The feelings that began to grow,
But silence clutched my words unsaid,
And I kept my heart locked in my head.

One Valentine's, a friend appeared,
Offering to help, I nearly veered,
But fright won out, I turned away,
Too scared to see what fate would say.

Little did I know, you felt the same,
Your heart was also in the game,
And as the days slipped quickly by,
You yearned to speak, just like I.

And then the day, oh, what a surprise,
You finally met my hopeful eyes,
A conversation, so sweet and true,
My heart skipped beats, it was just us two.

Your words, like stars, they made me swoon,
In that moment, I felt the moon,
For little did I know, my dear,
That you had always been so near.

A year apart, a gap in time,
Yet here you were, your heart in rhyme,
And as our paths converged once more,
We found what we'd been searching for.
