New Friends |Episode 105|

~~~~Livi's POV~~~~

As Java and Livi enter, Livi notices that the inside of the base has a bloody arrow in a glass case. Livi and Java notice a sad boy by the arrow.

Java asks the little boy, " Who are you?"

The little boy replies, " My name is Alan. Nick was my big brother. "

All of a sudden, Livi remembers Nick talking about Alan.

This brings Livi into tears not remembering Nick had a little brother who deeply cared for him.

Now Livi wishes she would've pushed Nick out of the way and let the arrow fly past him.

"Livi, Java," said Alan. " Do you guys wanna see something? "

Livi and Java replied, " Sure."

Alan took them into a room where a body lied in a clear, see-through casket.

Alan hesitates, "That's Nick," he manages with a slight whimper after he finishes. What Alan says makes them all burst into tears. Now Livi and Java thinks they will like the group of survivors. As nice as they are, they'll get along extremely well.

Once everyone stops crying, all goes silent for a moment. Everyone thinks of Nick for a while. After about five minutes of silence, a girl with bright red hair walks into the room. She's covered in blood.

"Oh my god, Greer! Are you okay?!" asks Alan.

"Bit," Greer manages to say. She reveals the bite wound on her arm by removing her hand from her arm.

"How did this happen?"

"There's no time for qu-questions. Just get me into a room where I can die in peace."

Java grabs Greer's bloody arm and lifts it onto his shoulder. Greer winces in pain. Alan leads them into a white room and sets Greer on a bed. Livi can't do anything. All she does is stare at Greer's half dead body on the bed through the window in the room.

All of a sudden, Livi loses control of her body. Automatically her feet lead her into the white room. She looks down at Greer on the bed. Livi just stands there looking down at Greer as she's dying, not able to move a muscle.

Java and Alan don't do anything at first. They didn't think Greer would die and reanimate too quickly. Greer takes one final breath and everyone stands there, looking down at Greer's lifeless body. Then everyone except for Livi put their heads down in defeat. They knew they weren't going to be able to save her but it was but it was always sad to lose anyone, even if you know it's coming.

Then, Greer started to moan and come back to life. She lifted her head up and started to reach for Livi, who was still not able to move a muscle. Greer's cold, dead fingers touched Livi's hair and got to her scalp.
Then, before Greer could bite into Livi's head, Java pulled out his knife and stabs Greer straight in the head. Java drops the knife on the floor and looks at Alan, not wanting to look at what he'd just done. Alan, who was now sobbing uncontrollably, looks at Java and just cries even harder. Mainly because Java had the look in his eyes of terror and sadness.
Livi finally managed to crawl back into reality after Java stabbed Greer. All she could do was look at Greer, unlike the other two who couldn't look at anything except for the ground. She was thinking about everything. Mainly about how horrible her life has been the past week.
About an hour later, some other members of Alan's group took Greer and put her in a casket. Not a see-through one like Nick's. They only put Nick in a clear casket because he was one of the group's main leaders.

"We normally hold funerals the day after someone dies. So if you guys would like to stick around for the night, then that would be great," Alan says. Java replies with, "Sure. That would be just fine. But before we get started on anything, I must ask if you have a phone. Our friend Ethan is back at our base. He doesn't know we headed out this far, and he's probably worried sick because we've been away for hours."
"Let me check with Dylan. He's our tech wiz and he's also one of our main leaders so if anyone has a phone, it would be him."
Java nods his head in response.
"You guys can come and meet him if you'd like. He's really nice."
Both Livi and Java nod their heads. They look at each other with wide eyes, curious to meet Dylan.
Alan leads the two down a long, narrow passageway that seems to go on for forever. They keep taking a lot of turns and Java tries to keep track of the path that they're taking so he can remember where to go. "Hey, Livi. You better keep track of the paths if we're going to be living here soon," Java says with a smile. Livi just stares straight ahead like Java said nothing, still paralyzed by what she saw a while ago.

Java sighs and directs his attention to the passageway that is ending. "This place sure is far back," Java says to Alan. "Oh, this isn't even as far back as you can go," he replies.
Livi finally speaks up, "Alan, how long have you been apart of this group? Nick never told me anything about this place. Is this supposed to be kept a secret?" Alan thinks about this for a moment, thinking about how to answer Livi's questions. After about fifteen seconds of thinking, he answers Livi's question. "I think I've been in this group for about 2 years now. And we never really touched on the topic of this place being kept a secret."

Livi nods in response.

A few seconds later, the three arrive at a wooden door. It has a sign on it that reads Dylan. Alan knocks on the door. "Just a minute," a voice responds. About thirty seconds later, a teenage boy answers the door. "Oh, hey," the boy says to Alan. "Hi," Alan answers. "I was wondering if you have a phone on you that these two kind people can use."

"Oh, yes. Let me go get it." The boy runs back into the office and grabs a phone off of the desk. He arrives at the doorway.

"Here you go," he says while handing his phone to Alan.
"Thank you," Alan replies. "I also need to introduce you to these people. The boy's name is Dakota, but most people call him by his nickname, Java. And the girl is Livi. She was Nick's best friend."

Alan hands Java the phone and Dylan puts out his hand to him. Java shakes Dylan's hand and smiles at him. Dylan does the same to Livi. Java calls Ethan and tells him that they're going to stay over at a friend's house for the night and that he didn't have to worry about the two.

Once Ethan and Java are done talking, Alan leads Livi and Java back down the passageway and into the main section of the base. The different parts of the base are labeled. Alan leads them down a hall that says bedrooms. He leads them into the second bedroom on the left.

As the three enter, they are overwhelmed by a nice smell. It's air freshener. Java and Livi hadn't smelled anything so nice in such a long time that they take such a huge whiff that they both get headaches.

They all plop down on a bed. Java and Livi to one and Alan to another. The felling of having something soft to sleep on that night made the feeling ten times better. They all fall asleep within ten minutes, ready to take on another day in the new, horrible world.
