~~~~Java's POV~~~~
I feel so horrible. I hate myself for what I've put everybody through. Everybody has been affected by my actions. Even people who didn't know my name were affected because they had to come here with Livi, Dylan, Alan, Billy, and I. They're apart of our group now.
As I'm about to get up to apologize to Ethan for everything, he walks through my door. I immediately sit up. "You scared me," I say.
"I'm sorry," Ethan replies. "But I have some news. Kind of bad news."
"What is it?" I say puzzled.
"There are too many people to house here. We have to move somewhere else."
Well I kind of knew it was coming, so this was only a little shocking. Mainly because of everything that just happened.
I make an 'oh well' face at Ethan and say, "I had a feeling we'd have to because of the number of people. Do I need to start packing now?"
"Yeah, you might want to start. We want to try to get going by today," Ethan responds.
"Okay." He leaves the room and shuts the door slowly.
Dang it!! That was the perfect chance for me to say sorry. After all of the stuff I put everybody through, I haven't even apologized!! "Ughhh!!" I say loudly. I take my pillow and throw it across the room. I breathe heavily and sit down on my bed. I shake my head at myself after a minute.
I get up and start going through my belongings. I eventually find a camouflage overnight bag. "I'm not too sure if this will hold all of my stuff, but we'll see," I say quietly to myself. I begin to shove my clothes in it. I grab my iPhone, even though I don't think it'll last because the power will probably be going out soon. I also grab my gun that I have for emergencies. It was hidden at the very bottom of my sock drawer.
Then I see the pictures. Livi, Ethan, and I. It was the first week of summer vacation back in 2013, when we were in 11th grade. I remember that day very vividly. All three of us went to the beach. Livi got knocked down by a wave when we were there. It was funny at first but not when she came back to us choking on water. I sigh. I just wish things could go back to the way they were. I shove the pictures in my bag and move on to another drawer.
I finish shoving everything in my bag. Surprisingly, everything fit. I head out the door and down the hall to the ladder. I climb the ladder and push the hatch open. "ETHAN!!" I yell. "WHAT?!" he yells back.
"I NEED YOU TO HOLD THE HATCH WHILE I GET MY BAG!!"
"OKAY!!"
I climb back down the ladder and grab my bag. I start to climb the ladder one rung at a time. I make my way to the hatch where Ethan is holding it open. I throw my bag up and climb up myself.
"Dude," I say. "I'm sorry about everything I've put everyone through. I should've kept running like Livi told me to. I really am sorry."
"Oh don't worry about it," Ethan replies, slapping my back. "We just have to learn to get used to it. Just like you do."
"Hey. I may be younger than most of everybody here, but I don't need to be talked to like a baby," I say, smiling at the same time.
Ethan smiles and lets out a chuckle. We walk over to Livi. She meets us half way. "Hey, Java. How are you feeling?" she asks me.
"Pretty good. My wrist is still pretty numb, so I can't feel much pain," I respond.
"Well good," she says, smiling. I smile back.
"Has everyone packed their stuff?" Ethan asks.
"I think so," Livi responds.
"Go make sure everyone's ready to leave."
"Ok." She starts to run towards the group of people.
"Do you know where we're headed?" I ask Ethan.
"Sort of. I know there's a highway over there," he replies pointing to our left. "I want to try to go over there and raid a Wal-Mart or something for food."
"Sounds good to me."
Livi reports back to us with everybody else. They all have their bags packed. Ethan explains to them that we're going to try to head towards the highway and raid a shop if we can. He also says that there might be quite a few zombies over in that direction, so we need to be extra careful.
We begin walking towards the city. Darn. I hope this isn't too far of a walk.
