Kai's Pov:

"I can't believe you are doing this to me!" The fire Prince screamed at his father, who was across the dinner table.

He knew this day would come eventually, but it still hurt to know his father was only doing this to win the war. Anger grew across his father's face, the lava walls casting a menacing shadow that made Kai tense.

"I am your father, and your king. You will marry the Princess of Amber whether you like it or not. Do I make myself clear?"

Kai wanted to fight back, but all he could do was nod.

He excused himself from the table and made his way to his room. This was the straw that would break the camel's back. Kai loved attention, but sometimes it was too much. Girls around him would do stupid stuff just to get him to look their way, people bombarded him with questions, and whenever someone would even as slightly touch him on accident they would do anything to make it up to him. He brought these issues up with the King, but he just shrugged it off.

Kai knew he was more of a problem to the kingdom than help, and now with him marrying Princess Skylor he felt as if he had no say in his life. Don't get it wrong, he liked Skylor, heck she was pretty as hell to him, but the fact his father only wanted him to marry her for her powers, the ability to mimic other elemental powers, in winning the war against the Lightning Kingdom was saddening to him.

Left alone in his room he made a run for it, escaping through the balcony. He landed on his feet, careful not to make a noise and headed for the village.

Suddenly he heard a bush shake. His eyes scanned around till he spotted a raven-haired boy with dark skin. He looked around Kai's age.

"Who are you?"

"M-my name is Aaron", the boy said, now standing.

"Hi Aaron, you probably know me, and I could use your help right about now. How far is it to the Lightning Kingdom?"

Cole's Pov:

Cole couldn't help but laugh when Jay said he was worried for him.

"Don't worry, I'll return back shortly when I get enough info on that prick", I say, trying to calm him.

"Just- what if you get spotted? You're my best friend Cole, of course I'm going to worry about you", the Lightning Prince said back.

"That won't happen, now I have to leave quickly if I want to get there before midnight."

He leapt out of the Prince's room and made his way quickly to the Obsidian Kingdom. It was now night. The plan was for Cole to pretend to be a guard, but he couldn't help but want to see the heartless monster known as the Fire Prince. He made his way to the Prince's room. He was about to climb up the balcony, but stopped.

It was the Prince. His brown hair looked like a flame itself and his amber eyes shined in the moonlight. What am I thinking, focus Cole! He concentrated on the Prince, who was now on the ground. What was he doing, Cole thought to himself.

While following the Prince from the bushes he lost his balance and snapped a twig. The Prince's eyes were now directly on Cole.

"Who are you?" Cole couldn't help but feel a little flustered as he talked.

"M-my name is Aaron", Cole lied.

"Hi Aaron, you probably know me, and I could use your help right about now. How far is it to the Lightning Kingdom?"

Cole couldn't help but widen his eyes for a second. Why did he want to get to the Lightning Kingdom? Was he planning on assassinating Jay? Cole couldn't let that happen. But suddenly he got an idea.

He could lure Kai to the forest and kidnap him for bargaining. So that was exactly what he planned to do.
