Kai's Pov:

How could he lie? Because it's his job too. Get over yourself, Kai. He felt betrayed, hurt, and sad. Cole was simply doing his job, but Kai felt like he was just stabbed in the back by someone close to him.

He had only known Cole for a little bit, yet his heart felt empty after learning the truth.

He hadn't even realized he was in the Lightning Kingdom's castle till the Prince of Lightning's voice broke his trance.

"Father, our knight Cole has brought forth Kai, the Fire Prince. He says he wishes to make peace between our Kingdom's."

He stepped forward, kneeling then getting up to speak. I look around at the castle's blue and light yellow color scheme.

"King Gordon, I believe this war has gone on for too long, and for what? I wish for neither of our Kingdoms to be destroyed, so I have come to offer a peace offering."

As the King of Lightning steps forth Kai could feel the fire in him die a bit.

"I have no time for this nonsense. If the Obsidian Kingdom really wanted peace why would they send a Prince and not the King?"

Kai tries to say something, but nothing leaves his mouth. The king turns to face Cole.

"You brought a potential threat into our lands, and for that you will leave with him, but you will not return. I banish you, Cole Brookstone, from the Lightning Kingdom."

Kai could not describe the emotion on Cole's face. It had been a mix between horror, sadness, anger, and acceptance.

"King Gordon, there is no need to banish Cole, he was only doing what was right." I try to convince him, but it appears to have not worked.

"Father, please reconsider!" Jay pleaded.

"I am only doing what's best for our Kingdom and you son. I am sorry."

We are escorted by guards to the edge of the Lightning Kingdom. We seem to have been walking for a while when Cole breaks down, sitting on the grass underneath them. Kai had been holding Lloyd's hand, but let go to comfort Cole.

"Cole I-" He was quickly interrupted.

"Not right now Kai. Ever since I met you things have been different, being around you makes me do stupid things, and I've been feeling things I've never felt before. I just lost my only home, my everything."

The raven-haired boy tears up, though it was clear he was trying to hold them back.

"I'm sorry..." Seems as if it was a whisper leaving his mouth.

"That's it! I lost everything and all you say is sorry!" Cole was now yelling at Kai, who began to tear up himself.

It felt like all of his anger was released at once.

"Well, maybe if you hadn't lied we wouldn't be here! Heck I'd probably-" He felt a sudden little blonde kid tug at his pants.

Lloyd was crying. Shit, Kai thought.

He quickly gets down to comfort Lloyd, giving him a hug. Eventually he felt Cole join. He didn't move till Lloyd stopped crying.

His anger had been more in control since he met Cole, but he couldn't always keep it in.

"We should head to the Ice Kingdom for shelter", said Cole, breaking the silence. His voice sounded like he wasn't even crying.

As they walked Kai wondered what Cole meant by 'I've been feeling things I've never felt before.' Things like what? What was going on underneath the surface?
