"No way." Jared said. For a moment, Evan thought Jared had a name for the emotion, but when he looked up, Evan saw that Jared was on his phone.
"'No way' what?" Evan asked.
"My favorite band just dropped a new album!"
"Cool."
"That's not what you were hoping for, is it?"
"Not really."
"I don't know what to tell you about that."
"Oh."
The truth was, Jared knew exactly what Evan was talking about. Down to every word, Evan had described hopeless, head-over-heels love.
But of course, Jared wasn't going to tell Evan that. He was going to watch Evan suffer until he figured it out himself. AND he was going to increase Evan's misery by flirting as much as possible.
"But that's some weird stuff." Jared said to Evan.
"Yeah."
"You know what? I love all 20 letters of the alphabet equally."
"Okay? That was random. Also, that's- There are 26 letters in the alphabet?"
"Oh. I forgot! u, r, a, q, t."
Evan blushed a little and shook his head. "That's still only 25."
"I figured we should save the d for later."
