Karina: Here For You (Part 3)

After hours of continuously working, you finally had the chance to take a breather and saw that the sun was setting. Switching your focus, you saw that Jimin was still at her table, now with some books. Looks like she was here to study for the exams.

As business slowed down, you noticed that you were glancing at that certain someone in the corner a little too often. It seemed like you had taken a liking to the girl in your class. You were glad you were able to do something for Jimin after seeing her look so down for the past week. Now, she's back to her bubbly self, dancing in her seat wearing her headphones and listening to what must be music.

There were no customers at the moment so you decided to take the opportunity to check on Jimin. Coincidentally, Jimin looked up from her books to see what time it was and saw you approaching her.

"Hi, are you feeling slightly better now?”

“Yes. Thank you for your concern."

"No worries. Are you here to study for the exams?"

"Yep! I’m waiting for a friend to come and thought I should use the time wisely to prepare for the exams.”

“Ok. If there is anything you are unsure about, you can ask me. I don’t mind teaching you for a short while.”

“Really? You will do that for me?”

“Of course. Why not?”

“You’re too kind! I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you. Am I bothering you by staying here?”

“Not at all. It’s not like there are lots of customers here. I don’t see a reason why you would be bothering me by occupying a table. Speaking of which, a customer just walked in. I’ll be heading back now. Take care.”

With that, you were on your way back to working the last few hours of your shift. As Jimin watched you slowly walk back to the counter, the corners of her mouth curved upwards. You were really as kind as what she imagined you to be under that cold appearance.

The sky was dark already and yet Jimin was still present in the cafe. No one else was here except for her and she was busy studying with no signs of her friend showing up any time soon. You thought what kind of person her friend was not showing up after she had waited for hours. You walked over to Jimin to inform her that it was closing time soon.

“Jimin?”

“Yes?”

“It’s almost closing time. Do you need anything before I prepare to close the store?”

This was the chance Jimin had been waiting for and she was going to make sure her plan worked.

“About that… I’ve got a little request that I would like you to fulfill.”

“What is it?”

“I figured you must not have eaten yet since you’ve been working up to this point. Would you like to have dinner with me? Of course, that is if you don’t mind. If you do mind, it’s fine."

“What about your plans? I thought you were waiting for your friend?”

“Actually… I was waiting for you to knock off to ask you out. There were no plans to meet a friend. It was just an excuse so I could wait for you to finish work, pretending like I was waiting for someone else.”

“Oh… I see…”

“It’s really fine if you don’t want to have dinner with me. I promise this is the last time I’ll annoy you. I won’t bother you anymore from today onwards. I swear.”
