Deirys was listening to the maester recommendations and things that were needed for Dragonstone. Gerardys was one of the few maesters Deirys trusted, he had worked with the healers she and her mother had brought from Essoss and Volantis, and he had learned and used some of their medicine practices. The maester had been working with her for the past two years and they had made significant differences for the people living in Dragonstone. The trade had flourished and the markets were overflowing with goods from all over Westeros and across the narrow sea. The doors to the chamber of the painted table opened and Deirys looked up to see Rhaegon walking in. Her brother and his wife had been staying with her for a sennight, Jaehaera spent most of her time walking around the beach and would not speak to a lot of people.
"Make sure all the roads are fixed within the next three days. I do not want my people having trouble moving their goods." The maester nodded. "That will be all for today, you may leave us."
"Your grace." The maester bowed to her, before bowing to her brother. "My prince."
The maester left and Rhaegon waited until the door was closed before sitting on the chair to her right. Deirys poured some wine into a cup and slid it over the table toward her brother before taking a sip of her water.
"You do not want any wine?" Deirys shook her head and her brother nodded, looking at her suspiciously, before his eyes widened. "You are with child."
"Yes." Deirys gave her brother a pained smile. "I am only two moons, so we have not told anyone yet."
"Yes, but you usually tell the family." Rhaegon looked at her sadly. "You do not have to hide your happy news because of me."
"It is not because of you Rhaegon, is because of Jaehaera." Deirys could see the pain in her sister-in-law's eyes, she was even having a hard time with Visenya, who was her best friend because Visenya was heavy with child. Deirys did not want to add to the pain. "She is not handling things well, I do not want to add to her pain. There is no reason for her to know about it yet, she is already going through enough."
