Chapter 3 starved for help part 1

3 months has passed.
The Forest of the Motel, August 1st, 2010.
Lee creeps up behind a walker with the fire axe.
He raises the fire axe and aims for the head.
He pulls it out.
Mark: So what did it get this time?
Lee: A rabbit.
Mark: Not again.
Lee: I'm sure there's more food.
Mark: Hopefully.
Lee and Mark uncrouches and walks deeper into the woods.
Mark sees a bird and prepares to shoot it.
Mark: Do you think you can I shoot the bird from here.
Lee: I don't know.
Lee: Can you hit it from here?
Mark shoots but misses.
Mark: Damn it.
Lee: Maybe next time.
Then they hear a scream.
Mark: Shit do you think that was kenny?
Lee: I don't know, let's find out.
Lee and Mark run towards the direction of the scream.
They find the source of the scream, which is a guy trapped in a bear trap.
Next to the guy is a couple of teenagers.
Mark: Oh crap.
???: Please don't hurt us and just leave.
???: Ben, let me handle this situation.
Kenny comes running and stops next to Lee and Mark.
Kenny: You guys okay?
Kenny: Oh shit.
Ben: Look, can you help my teacher or not.
???: Shut up, Ben.
???: I know what I am doing.
Kenny: We'll help if you calm down.
Then walkers come out of the forest.
Kenny: Shit walkers.
Mark: Now or never lee.
Kenny and Mark shoot at the walkers.
Lee crouches down and tries to open the bear trap.
Lee: There's no latches!
Kenny: Then cut the chain!
Lee gets up and raises the fire axe up.
He tries to cut the chain, but the chain doesn't brake.
Lee: Um, that didn't work!
Mark: Then chop off his leg!
??? No, don't!
Ben: Do it!
???: Please.
Lee raises the fire axe up again and cuts the teacher's leg.
???: Shit!
One of the kids pukes away from this.
Lee takes out the fire axe and raises the fire axe up again, and cuts the teacher's leg again.
Ben: Keep going!
Lee takes out the fire axe and raises the fire axe up again, and finally cuts off the teacher's leg.
Which causes the teacher to bleed into unconscious.
Ben: Is he?
Lee: He's alive.
Kenny: Then pick him up, and let's get out of here.
Lee puts the fire axe away and picks up the now one-legged man.
Mark and Kenny stop shooting at the walker's until Ben realizes something.
Ben: Alex, get out of there!
The kid that was puking was somehow by the walker's.
Ben tries to run to his friend, but Mark stops him.
He finally stops puking.
Alex: Huh?
Alex: What are you?
Before another word, he was bit in multiple spots and torn apart.
Ben: No!
Kenny: Let's go!
Lee carrying Ben's teacher, Kenny,
Mark and Ben run towards the motel.

The motel is quiet for the most part.
Otis is reading a book.
Clem is kicking a soccer at a metal barrel repeatedly.
Lilly is keeping watch.
Larry and Shawn are busy on the wall.
Duck is drawing.
Katjaa is changing Carley's bandages.
Doug is working on an alarm system.
Sound could be heard in the woods.
Lilly: Everyone get down!
Everyone stops what they're doing except Katjaa.
Lilly prepares her rifle to shoot whoever is in the woods.
Luckily, she didn't shoot.
Lee carrying Ben's teacher,Kenny,
Mark and Ben come running from the forest.
Lilly: What the?
Everyone runs toward Lee, who places Ben's teacher on the bed of the truck.
Lilly: What the fuck, lee?!
Lee: What?
Larry: You can't keep saving people.
Kenny: They would've died out there.
Lilly: Who cares?
Lilly: You should be focusing on this right here.
Lilly: Right now.
Mark: Maybe give them a chance.
Otis: Do you guys have any supplies?
Lee: No.
Mark: Not really.
Kenny: Sorry kid.
Otis: How about you?
He points at Ben.
Ben checks his pockets and pulls out.
Ben: I have antibiotics, and that's all.
Katjaa: Throw it to me, please.
Ben: Okay.
Ben throws Katjaa the pills, and she catches it.
Lilly: I don't know why you keep bringing people that we can't feed.
Mark: C'mon, you guys let me in.
Lilly: That's because you had food.
Shawn: That can't be the only reason you saved him.
Lilly: He had ammo, too.
Kenny: You're a terrible leader.
Lee: I agree.
Otis: I can second that.
Katjaa,Kenny,Otis,Duck,Clem,Ben,Doug,Shawn,and Mark leave the conversation.
Larry: My daughter has more balls than any of you combined.
Lilly: Dad, why don't you help mark with the fence.
Larry leaves the conversation.
Lilly: If you think i'm doing a bad job, how about you do it.
Lilly walks up to a bag and crouches down to get food out of the bag.
Lee: Lilly.
Lilly stands back up and walks towards Lee.
Lilly: Here's all the food for the week. Lilly: Good luck feeding everyone.
She gives Lee 5 pieces of food.
There are 13 people in Lee's group.
Who's going hungry?
Larry and Mark are working on the wall,Kenny is watching Duck,Duck is drawing with Clem,Ben is staring into space,Katjaa is fixing the one-legged man,Lilly is back on watch,Doug goes back to fixing the trip wire,Shawn is with Carley,Otis is reading a book.
Lee begins to walk towards Clem and Duck.
Clem gets up and runs towards Lee.
Lee: Hey, sweet pea.
Clem: Hey lee.
Lee: Where's your hat?
Clem: I don't know.
Lee: Where was the last time you saw it?
Clem: I had it a few days ago.
Lee: Don't worry, i'll find it.
Clem: Really, thank you.
Clem ran back to what she was doing.
Lee walks toward Clem and crouches to her level.
Clem: Hey lee.
Lee: Hey sweet pea.
Lee: Here.
Lee takes out chips.
Lee: Here you go.
Clem takes the chips.
Clem: Okay, but next time, I want a chocolate shake.
Lee: I'll keep that in mind.
Lee stands up and walks towards Duck, then crouches down to his level.
Duck: Hey lee.
Lee: Hey duck.
Lee: Here.
Lee takes out half of an apple.
Duck takes half of an apple.
Duck: Is there any peanut butter?
Lee: What do you think?
Duck: Guess not.
Lee stands up again and walks towards Otis.
Lee: Hey, otis.
Otis: Hi lee.
Lee: Have this.
Lee takes out crackers.
Otis: Did you feed duck and clem?
Lee: Yes.
Otis: Did you feed the others?
Lee: No.
Otis: Then save it for someone who needs it.
Lee: But you're someone.
Otis: Other people need it more than I do.
Lee: Do you not like crackers?
Otis: Lee, please.
Lee: Okay, fine.
Lee: But I have some things to say to you.
Otis: What is it?
Lee: What's the book you're reading?
Otis: A random book I found in the motel.
Lee: Oh, okay.
Lee: Do you know where clem's hat is?
Otis: No, but I have a theory.
Lee: What's your theory?
Otis: That it got stolen at night, or she lost it.
Lee: Thanks.
Lee: I'll keep that in mind.
Otis: Okay.
Lee: Who do you think I should give the food to?
Otis: To the people who you like the most, I guess.
Lee: I know that.
Otis: Then why did you ask me?
Lee: Because I don't know who to start with.
Otis: You fed clem and duck right.
Lee: Yes.
Otis: Then feed your favorite people.
Lee: Then you need.
Otis: Who isn't me.
Lee: Okay, fine.
Otis: Thank you.
Lee leaves Otis and walks toward Carley's room.
Lee enters the room.
Shawn: Hey lee.
Lee: Hey shawn.
Lee: How's carley feeling.
Shawn: Better thanks to the pills the kid had.
Lee: Here's some food.
Lee takes out crackers.
Shawn: Is that for carley or for me?
Lee made a decision.
Lee: It's for you.
Shawn: Okay.
Lee: So shawn, why didn't you go back to the farm?
Shawn: Because you guys need more help than my father and sisters.
Lee: Well, thanks, we needed it.
Shawn: You're welcome.
Lee: How are you?
Shawn: I am okay, I guess.
Shawn: You?
Lee: Same.
Shawn: Ok.
Lee: Is that your guitar?
Shawn: Yes.
Lee: Do you know how to play it?
Shawn: I'm learning how to play it.
Lee: That's cool.
Shawn: Yep.
Lee walks out of Carley's room and walks toward Doug.
Who's working on something.
Lee: Hey, doug.
Doug: Oh hey lee.
Lee: Here.
Lee takes out jerky.
Doug: You sure?
Lee: I'm sure.
Doug: Thanks.
Lee: So what are you working on?
Doug: An alarm system.
Lee: How does it work?
Doug: Well, I set up a wire that is connected to these bells.
Doug: If someone steps on the wire, these bells would go off.
Lee: Oh, that's pretty useful.
Doug: Yep, it is.
Lee leaves Doug and walks toward Ben.
Lee: Hey, kid.
Ben: Hey.
Lee: Here.
Lee takes out the other half of the apple.
Ben: You sure?
Lee: Yes.
Lee leaves Ben and walks towards Lilly.
Lilly: Not easy, is it?
Lee: Nope.
Shawn and Carley walk out of Carley's room.
Shawn: Katjaa, let me help you with the one-legged guy.
Katjaa: Nah, I got this.
Katjaa: You keep close to carley.
Shawn: Okay, c'mon, carley.
Carley: Right.
Lee walks toward Mark and Larry, who is working on the wall.
Lee: I think I got something to make this faster.
Lee: Here's the fire axe mark.
Larry: Why didn't you give me the fire axe?
Mark: It's because Lee hates you.
Larry: Is that so?
Lee: Just get back to work.
Larry and Mark get back to work.
Katjaa: Lee and kenny, come over here, please.
Lee and Kenny walk towards Katjaa.
Kenny: How is he?
Katjaa: He didn't make it.
Kenny: Fuck!!
Kenny walks away angrily.
Katjaa: Sometimes I worry about him.
Lee: He'll be okay.
Katjaa: I hope you're right.
Then the dead one-legged man grabs Katjaa.
Lee: Oh shit!!!!
Katjaa: Help!!!!!!
Lee pushes the one-legged man off of Katjaa.
Lee: Give me the fire axe!!!
The one-legged man grabs Lee into the bed of the truck, and Lee slams the walker on each side of the truck.
Lee then kicks the walker off of him.
Mark pulls out the fire axe and swings at the walker.
But he misses and shatters the back window.
Mark: Shit the fire axe is stuck.
Lee crawls backward until he falls off the bed of the truck, and the walker also falls off the bed of the truck.
The walker gets on Lee trying to bite him.
Carley takes out her gun.
Lee: Shoot it!
Carley shoots the walker, and Lee pushes the walker off of him.
Lee gets up.
Everyone walks up to Lee.
Kenny: Hey kid, you said this guy wasn't bitten.
Ben: He wasn't.
Kenny: Well, he died and tried to eat my wife!
Ben: Wha?!
Ben: Wait, y'all don't know?
Kenny: Don't know what?
Ben: It's not the bite that does it.
Otis: What are you talking about?
Ben: If you die, you turn into one of those things.
Ben: No matter how you die, you turn unless you destroy the brain.
Shawn: Can scratches affect people too?
Ben: Maybe, but I've seen people turn who I know was never bitten.
Ben: When I first saw it happen, we were all hiding out in a gym, and everybody thought we were finally safe.
Ben: But one of the girls, Jenny Pitcher, I think, I guess she couldn't take it.
Ben: She took some pills, a lot of them. Ben: Someone went in the girls' room the next morning, and god.
The bells on Doug's alarm system begin ringing as one man trips over the string outside the motel with another man next to him. The motel survivors crouch down behind the fence and whisper.
Mark: Doug, it works!
Doug: Of course it works!
Doug: I told you!
???: Shit, where'd this string come from?
???: Watch where you're walking, man.
Lilly looks at Ben.
Lilly: Who are those people?
Ben: I don't know.
Otis: Now seems like the perfect time to pull out a gun or not.
Lee decides.
Lee: Carley, get out your gun.
Carley: Okay.
Carley gets her gun out and stands up.
Carley: That's far enough!
???: Woah, don't shoot.
Everyone else stands up.
Otis: Why not?
???: Because we don't wanna die.
Shawn: What are you doing here anyway?
???: We're looking for gas.
Carley: Why do you need gas?
???: To keep our electric fence on.
Doug: You guys got an electric fence?
???: Yeah.
Shawn: Wait, are you guys from a farm?
???: Yeah, how'd you know?
Shawn: Because you need fences to protect your food and yourselves.
???: Ok, you got us.
???: We live on a farm.
Mark: What's your guys name?
Lilly: Mark.
???: My name is andy, and this here is my brother danny.
Danny: Do you guys need food?
Otis: We should think about this, guys.
Larry: Think about what were going in for the food.
Carley: But we don't know who they are?
Doug: We have no proof that the farm exists.
Lilly: Then why don't we follow them.
Mark: Maybe some of us follow them, and the rest stays behind.
Lee: Just in case?
Mark: Yeah.
Otis: Makes sense so some of us get the food and some of us stay here.
Kenny: So who's staying behind?
Lee: Kenny,duck,katjaa,larry,lilly,and clem you guys stay behind.
Lee: While me,carley,doug,shawn, mark,otis,and ben follow andy and danny.
Lee: Let's make a deal.
Andy: Sure.
Lee: We will give you gas and you will take us to your farm.
Andy: Deal.
They grab the gas containers from Andy and Danny and fuel them up.
They give the gas containers back to Andy and Danny, and then they follow Andy and Danny back to the farm.

Andy: The farm has been in my family since the last time I remember.
Ben,Mark, and Shawn are walking at the same speed as Andy and Danny.
Otis,Carley,Lee,and Doug walk behind them.
Carley: Otis, why not walk ahead while me,doug,and lee talk alone.
Otis: No, I don't think I will.
Doug: Just let him stick around.
Carley: Okay, fine.
Carley: Doug, I have a question for you.
Doug: What is it?
Carley: I love you.
Carley: Do you love me too?
Doug: Yes, I love you too.
Lee: Congratulations, you guys.
Otis: Is that all you wanted to say?
Carley: No, there's more.
Carley: Otis and Doug, why not walk ahead while me and lee talk alone.
Doug: Is it another surprise.
Carley: It's more of an important secret.
Otis: If it's the secret, I think it is then might as well tell doug as well.
Carley: The secret you think it is?
Otis: It starts with m and ends with r.
Carley: Okay, fine, you can stay, but doug, are you sure you wanna hear this secret.
Doug: Yes.
Carley: Lee, when are you gonna tell everyone about your past.
Lee: I might as well start now.
Otis: Thank you, we don't need anyone's secrets to be told by someone else.
Lee: I murdered a state senator who slept with my wife.
Lee: That's why I was in the police car, otis.
Otis: Reasonable.
Carley: Really?
Otis: If you found someone you married having sex with a stranger.
Otis: Wouldn't you murder the stranger, or will you let him get away?
Doug: I agree with otis.
Carley: I guess these two are chill killing a stranger.
Lee: I guess so.
Andy: Anyways, so what y'alls names.
Mark: My name is mark.
Ben: My name is ben.
Shawn: I'm shawn.
Doug: My name's doug.
Carley: My name's carley.
Otis: Otis.
Lee: My name's lee.
Danny: So, lee, we got a couple of questions for you?
Lee: Shoot.
Andy: Where you from?
Otis whispers to Lee.
Otis: Don't tell them the truth.
Lee: Everywhere.
Andy: I hear that, nowheres safe.
Danny: So, how many people are in your group?
Lee: Too many for you to handle.
Andy: Oh, we know.
Danny: So what was your job before this?
Lee: Protecting everyone here.
Danny: No, I mean before this.
Lee: Cooking food.
Andy: That's a good job.
They hear a nearby conversation.
???: You think you're gonna cut me outta this?
Andy: Shit!
Andy: Get down!
Everyone crouches down.
Carley pulls out her gun,Otis pulls out his knife,Mark prepares the rifle, Shawn pulls out his hammer,Andy pulls out a gun, and so does Danny.
Andy: Everyone up here.
They climb to high ground, and they see two guys arguing.
Bandit: No one is trying to cut you outta anything!
Bandit: You and Gary are always pulling this shit!
Bandit: Don't think I haven't noticed!
Danny: Fuckin' bandits.
Mark: Who?
Ben: Those look like the people who raided my camp.
Otis: Then these guys need to die.
Bandit: Calm down, your paranoia is pissing everyone off!
Lee: Who are they?
Andy: Shh.
Andy: Fucking assholes is who they are.
Bandit: Fuck you!
Bandit: You knew we were hungry, and you guys were keeping it all to yourselves!
Doug: What should we do?
Carley: There's only two of them.
Andy: Oh, no, there's a lot more.
Shawn: Good to know.
Bandit: Yeah, and you know what?
Bandit: We ate it all!
Bandit: What are you gonna fucking do about it?
Andy: Don't worry.
Andy: Danny and I got ya covered if something happens, but let's just wait this out and hope they move on.
Bandit: Fuck you!
The bandit kicks the other bandit and then shoots him in the head. Ben gasps. Bandit shoots the dead body a few more times.
Bandit: Fuck you!
Bandit: Fuck you!
Doug: Oh, shit!
Carley: Jesus!
Bandit: Asshole.
The Bandit walks away.
Andy: The world out here has gone to shit.
Andy: Come on, let's get to the dairy where it's safe.
Everyone gets up and walks away.
