Andy: Here it is.
Andy: St. John's family dairy.
He points at the electric fence.
Andy: Y'all can see how we've kept this place so safe.
Doug walks up to the fence and kneels down to inspect it.
Mark: The fence keeps them out?
Andy: You betcha.
Andy: They fry like bugs in a zapper. Andy: We're pushing 4,000 volts through that thing, with generators and amps.
Doug: Oh, wow, you guys must know a thing or two about running wire!
Danny: Had a guy who did, yeah.
Carley: I'm going to assume that's a lot.
Shawn: I kinda wish my farm had this.
Andy: You have a farm?
Shawn: Well, it's my dad's farm, but yeah.
Lee: Ever have any accidents?
Danny: Nah.
Otis: Interesting.
Andy: It's safer here than out there.
Lee: This is a really brilliant setup.
Andy: Suits us just fine.
Doug: Oh, wow!
Doug: You've got enough electricity to run the whole place!
Carley: This place looks untouched! Carley: You'd never know the rest of the world is in ruins.
Andy: It's worth protecting, hence all the juice.
The lady was holding a basket and walked down the steps toward the group.
???: I thought I saw y'all with company comin' down the drive!
Andy: Guys, this is our mama.
???: I'm brenda St. john, and welcome to the St. john dairy!
Andy: This here's Lee.
Andy: He moves around a lot, but with things the way they are, maybe we can convince him to stick around for a while.
Danny: They got a few more friends staying at the old motel.
Brenda: Oh, my goodness, that place is pretty vulnerable.
Brenda: Have you got someone with survival experience to lead your group?
Lee: We all work together.
Lee:Plus, we've got plenty of people with military experience.
Brenda: Well, that's good to hear.
Brenda: That motel isn't the safest place.
Andy: Hold on.
Andy: I thought you said someone else was running things?
Lee: Oh, yeah, I thought she was asking about survival tactics.
Brenda: Well, it doesn't matter.
Brenda: You're here now.
Brenda: We'll make sure you're safe and comfortable.
Brenda: Now that y'all are here, we'll make sure you're safe and comfortable.
Lee: Does that offer apply to the rest of us?
Doug: We're starved!
Carley: We're all incredibly hungry.
Brenda: These are for y'all.
Brenda: Baked fresh this morning.
Brenda raises the basket, which is filled with bread.
Doug: Holy moly!
Everyone turns to Doug as chewing sounds are heard. Doug is holding the basket and eating the food. He pauses at being caught.
Doug: Sorry.
Carley: Amazing!
Danny: Can't get stuff like that anymore, not without a cow for milk and butter, that's for sure.
Brenda: That's right.
Brenda: Hopefully, maybelle will make it through this bout of whatever she's got and be with us for a good long while.
Lee: Your cow is sick?
Lee: What's she?
Mark: We have a vet!
Mark: We could bring her here!
Mark: We can help you folks out!
Brenda: A vet?
Brenda: Oh, my!
Brenda: Our prayers have been answered!
Mark: Maybe our whole group could come for the day.
Otis: If nothing goes wrong.
Mark: Yeah, I know that.
Shawn: What kind of food are you growing here?
Andy: All kinds of stuff.
Brenda: Well, how about this?
Brenda: Y'all go get your veterinary friend, and I prepare some dinner.
Brenda: A big feast for all you hungry souls.
Brenda: It'll be nice to have some folks to help out around here again.
Brenda: Danny, why don't you come help me out in the kitchen?
Brenda and Danny leave.
Doug and Carley: Why don't I head back with the food and round up everyone for the trip back here?
They both at say at the same time.
Shawn: Whoever you chose lee.
Shawn: Me,ben, and carley or doug will go back to get the others.
Lee decides.
Lee: Shawn, ben, and doug, you guys go back to the motel.
Mark: Here, doug, take this.
Mark takes off his gun and gives it to Doug.
Doug: Thanks.
Brenda: Here, take the food with you as well.
Doug grabs the basket of rolls.
Doug: C'mon shawn and ben.
Carley: See you guys later.
Doug: Yep.
They walk back to the motel.
Andy: Mark, lee, otis, carley why don't ya take a look around?
Andy: Once ya get settled in, I could use some help securin' the perimeter.
Lee: Is there a problem?
Andy: Sometimes, the dead get tangled up in the fence before they fry and end up knocking over a post. Andy: It'd be a big help if you could walk the perimeter.
Andy: You can learn a li'l something about our fence.
Andy: I'm gonna go top off the generators before they run dry.
Andy: Come get me when you're ready.
Mark: You betcha.
Otis: We'll let you know.
Carley: We'll be on it.
Andy leaves.
Mark: This place is incredible!
Mark: It's got food!
Mark: And that fence oh, man, that fence!
Mark: If we play our cards right, this might turn out to be a place we can stay.
Mark: So how do we want to play this?
Lee: Before we can think about bringing our whole group here to stay, we need to figure out if this place is as safe as they're telling us.
Otis: I agree with lee.
Otis: We need to see if this place is good enough.
Mark: Right.
Carley: And we have to check if there even is a sick cow.
Mark: Yep and.
Mark: Obviously, they think it's safe, but is it safe enough for the kids?
Mark: I noticed a broken swing over there.
Otis: It's not a big deal, mark.
Mark: But maybe there's other things not working that we just can't see yet.
Lee: And checking the fence perimeter sounds like a decent way to get a good look at their defenses.
Mark: Alright, I'll keep my eyes open and you find out what you can from Andy.
Carley: Will do.
Otis: Go team.
Mark,Otis,Carley, and Lee walk away.
Lee looks at the broken swing.
Otis: Why is there a swing if there are no kids?
Lee: Maybe it was their old swing?
Otis: Then why didn't they get rid of it when the apocalypse wasn't a thing?
Lee: Maybe they keep for it good memories.
Otis: Perhaps.
Lee goes around the farm, and he comes back to fix the swing.
Otis: Fixing the swing?
Lee: Yeah, for duck and clem.
Otis: Nice.
Lee finally fixes the swing.
Lee walks up to Otis.
Otis: Hi.
Lee: How are you doing?
Otis: I'm doing good, how about you?
Lee: I'm doing great.
Otis: Great.
Lee: What do you think of this place?
Otis: So far, so good.
Otis: But we'll see how it will end.
Lee: Yep.
Otis: Yep.
Lee: How's yours and shawn's training been going.
Otis: I learned how shoot and shawn learned not to be afraid of shooting people anymore.
Lee: Oh yeah, how'd you do that?
Otis: I pulled out a new trick in these dark times.
Lee: And that is what?
Otis: Imagine if a guy or girl had the people you love hostage.
Otis: What would you do?
Lee: Well, you know my answer.
Otis: Yes, and shawn's answer.
Lee: Do you think there's no sick cow?
Otis: They haven't lied yet, so we'll see.
Lee: Bye.
Otis: Bye.
Lee leaves Otis and walks up to Carley.
Carley: Hey lee.
Lee: Hi carley.
Lee: How you feel'in.
Carley: Could be worse.
Lee: Good to know.
Lee: What do you think of this place?
Carley: It's nice.
Carley: What do you think of this place?
Lee: It's just as otis said it's good so far.
Carley: So suspicious but not too suspicious.
Lee: Yeah.
Lee: See ya later, carley.
Carley: You too.
Lee leaves Carley and walks up to Andy.
Lee: Hey.
Andy: Hey lee.
Andy: Well, I'm glad you guys decided to help us out.
Andy: I noticed back at the motel that you folks are pretty well-armed.
Andy: You been stockpiling, huh?
Lee: We've scraped together a good supply in the last few months.
Lee: How about yourselves?
Lee: What kind of protection do you have around here?
Andy: We've collected a few guns to protect ourselves, but we really only use 'em when we go off the property. Andy: When we're inside the perimeter, the fence is all we need to keep us safe.
Lee: Mark, carley, otis, and I can help you with that perimeter now.
Mark,Carley,and Otis walk over.
Andy: Oh, good.
Andy: The fence'll stop a walker in about three or four seconds but gets overloaded if we leave the husks out there.
Lee: You know, mark, otis, carley and I can clear the fence ourselves if you wanna stay here and finish up with the generators.
Andy: Well, that'd be great!
Andy: I'll turn off the northwest section, and if you guys could strip 'em off and look for any weak points, that'd be a big help.
Lee: Sounds easy enough.
Andy: Stay attentive, ya never know.
After Lee tells Andy, they're ready to fix the perimeter, Lee,Mark,Otis, and Carley walk along the northwest part of the fence.
Mark: So how's the place looking?
Mark:Is it safe enough for us to stay if we can?
Lee: Yeah, it's pretty amazing what they've done with this dairy.
Lee: But let's see what it takes to secure this fence before drawing any conclusions.
Otis: I agree.
Mark: Do you think we're doing enough to get the St. johns to like us?
Lee: Well, we don't wanna seem over-anxious.
Lee: Showing them we can handle this fence is gonna go a long way.
Carley: I wonder if everyone is gonna be out here?
Mark: Me too.
Mark: I can't wait until everyone's out here.
Mark: Everyone besides larry.
Otis: Speaking of him.
Lee: Why, you gotta tell him that I hate him?
Mark: You said it.
Carley: But you're the one who said it to him.
Mark: True but.
Lee: Look!
A crow takes a chunk of flesh from a dead zombie stuck on the fence with an arrow in its neck.
Mark: There's one.
Carley: Eughh.
Lee nudges the walker's shin with his foot.
Mark: Lee, it's dead.
Otis: I think he was testing the fence.
Lee: Come on, let's push it off.
The arrow has gone through the walker's neck and into a fence post, so Lee pulls the arrow out of the corpse.
Lee: Disgusting.
Lee uses his axe to push the zombie off the fence.
Lee: Come on, I'm sure there's still a few more.
They continue walking along.
Mark: Once this fence is patched up, this place'll be a fortress!
Mark: God, can you imagine not having to worry about the walkers anymore?
Otis: That sounds too good to be true.
Carley: I can't wait.
Lee: It's dangerous.
Mark: True, but it's also dangerous to the walkers.
Otis: Wait, you think it's dangerous to kill walker's?
Mark: Yeah.
Carley: I don't wanna kill walker's anymore either.
Mark: So, what's your take on the brothers?
Mark: They seem to have this place tied down pretty well.
Lee: What do you mean by that?
Mark: I don't know.
Mark: They seem decent enough.
Mark: I just want you to know that I've got your back if anything goes down.
Mark: That's all.
Lee: Thanks.
Otis: Me too.
Carley: And me.
Lee: Thanks, guys.
Lee: There's another one.
Mark: I see it.
Mark,Lee,Otis, and Carley approach another walker caught in the fence. Lee pushes it away with his axe, but its hands remain caught on the fence.
Lee severs the zombie's wrists, and its body falls while its hands remain fused to the fence.
Mark: You never get used to the smell, do ya?
Otis: Hopefully not.
Carley: No.
Lee: Nope.
They continue walking.
Mark: Christ, I can't stop thinking about dinner.
Otis: Weird time to think about dinner.
Carley: I'm also hungry.
Mark: It would have been nice to get some of those rations.
Mark: I get hungry too, ya know.
Carley: Me too.
Lee: Just try to focus on the task.
Mark: They knew what they were doing, teasing us with food and then giving us chores!
Lee: Having a good meal will be worth it.
Mark: Let's just get this done.
Mark: Maybe brenda has some more bread in the house.
A section of fence has fallen down with a walker tangled in it. Nearby, outside the fence, is a silo and tractor.
Mark: Come on, I think I see where they're getting in.
Mark: This one must've knocked it over trying to get through.
Mark: He's tangled up in there pretty good.
Mark: Come on, help me get this thing back in place so we can get mr. crispy off of here.
Lee: I think we'd get better leverage from the other side.
Mark: Good idea.
Mark,Otis, and Carley jump over the fallen fence to the other side. He crouches down and holds onto one of the fenceposts.
Lee jumps over the fallen fence to the other side. He crouches down and holds onto one of the fenceposts.
He and Mark push the fence back up. Just as they let go, the electric fence turns on.
Mark: Holy fuck!
Mark: What just happened?
Lee: The fences are on!
Otis: I knew it would to good to be true!
Mark: Why the hell would he turn the fence on?!
Mark: He knows we're out here!
Carley: Good question!
An arrow pierces Carley's shoulder, and she cries out in pain, grabbing her shoulder. Arrows continue flying at Mark,Lee,Otis, and Carley.
Bandit: I told you what would happen, you son of a bitch!
Mark: What the?
Lee: Get to the gate!
Mark,Lee,Otis, and Carley try to run along the fence to reach the gate, but arrows are fired in front of their path, narrowly missing them. Lee looks over at the tractor.
Lee: Get down!
Otis: Oh shit!
Carley: Fuck!
Mark: Christ!
Bandit: You assholes!
Mark: Jesus!
Mark,Lee,Otis, and Carley take cover behind the tractor. Lee peeks over, ducking as an arrow flies at him.
Bandit: We had an agreement!
Bandit: Now you're fucked!
Mark: Who the fuck is that?!
Lee: No idea!
Otis: It could be anyone!
Carley: Fuck!
Carley: Now what?!
Lee: With the fence on, that gate is our only way out!
Mark: Great!
Lee tries to push the tractor, but it doesn't budge.
Lee: Shit, something's still blocking it!
Otis: Everyone but carley look around!
Mark: Okay!
Lee looks at the ignition.
Lee: No fuel.
Lee: Of course.
Mark looks behind the tractor at the plow.
Mark: The blades are stuck in the dirt!
Mark pulls the plow lever, which raises the spikes stuck into the dirt. Mark quickly gets behind cover again as the bandits fire an arrow at him.
Otis looks in front of the tractor and sees a brick blocking the front wheel.
Otis grabs it and quickly gets behind cover again.
The tractor starts moving, and everyone moves with it.
Lee: Come on, if we can reach the gate, we can get through this fence and back to the house.
Bandit: Over there!
Carley: Aghh!
Carley:Shit, that hurts!
Bandit: They're on the move!
The tractor stops as it runs into a dead walker.
Mark: What happened?
Lee: Shit.
Lee:It's one of the dead we pushed down earlier.
Lee:I'm gonna have to move it.
Otis: I'll help you.
Lee and Otis pull the walker out of the tractor's path; it continues to roll along as Mark,Lee,Otis, and Carley follow it.
Bandit: Where do you think you're going?!
The tractor rolls into another walker body.
Carley: Another one?
Mark: How many of those things did Lee and Otis grab onto the walker's arms and try to pull him away, but the walker is still alive. It pulls Lee and Otis toward itself.
Lee: Shit!
Otis pulls out his knife and hands it to Lee.
Lee stabs the walker in the head and then pulls backward until the top half of its body is torn from its legs. Lee drags and throws it aside. They continue moving along with the tractor and hands Otis his knife back.
Mark: You guys okay?
Lee: Yeah.
Lee: Barely.
Otis: What he said.
Mark: Come on, the gate's right there!
Carley: Almost there.
The tractor stops in front of the silo.
Bandit: They're getting away!
Lee: Let's get outta here!
Lee kicks open the gate, and he,Otis, Mark, and Carley run away.
Bandit: You lucky sons of bitches!
Bandit:Go ahead and run!
Bandit:We ain't goin' nowhere!
