After making ourselves comfortable, I showed Nikki the rest of the basement, which wasn't very much but what are you supposed to expect out of a home that my grandfather built? "And this is my dad's baby. The skeeter." I pull back the cover. "This is my baby" I motion to the waverunner still on its trailer.

"Ah, I get a preview of what you're going to kill me with."

"Exactly!" I smile. "Now I'm going to give you a little insight, my dad already doesn't like you, but I know a few ways that will make him respect you a little more."

"And how's that?" he crossed his arms.

"Only two sections of the pier are in, and if you help him put the rest in, that will get you some approval points."

"Awe man, I have to do manual labor? Sweetie, I don't know if you know this, but if you gave me a hammer, I wouldn't know what to do with it." he grimaced. "How do you expect me to put a whole pier in the water?"

"With my help, but you lucked out. There's about an hour and a half of sunlight left so you don't need to do anything today."

     "Thank god." he sighed.

"My dad will probably finish up whatever he's doing within the next hour and we'll go out for dinner."

     "Ooh, what are we getting?"

"Greasy dive-bar food. But they have the best burgers so it's absolutely worth it."

"Better than the shit I've had to eat for the last 9 months." he said following me out to the patio where a table and chairs were set up. I pulled one out and took a seat, then he did the same. Nikki and I waited there, conversing, while we waited for my dad looking as the sunset from behind cast a beautiful glow on the water. Finally, as the sky darkened, my dad emerged from the house, wiping his hands on a rag. "Alright, kids. Ready for some food?"

     "Yes" I groaned.

     "Please" Nikki groaned too.

We made our way back towards the ferry where there was a bar on the corner called the Ferry Crossing. Get it? Since it's at the ferry crossing- whatever. When we arrived, of course, my dad and I already knew most of the people in there. My dad went up to the bar to say his hellos and get a drink while Nikki and I grabbed a seat by the pool table. Not long after the bartender, Patty,  came up to the table. "Hey Hun, I saw your dad over there, will you guys be needing menus?" she asked.

     "Well get one for him."

"Alrighty, what can I get you two to drink."

"Can I get a titos and lemonade?"

     "Sure hun, and for you?"

"Can I get a Jack and Coke please?" he smiled

"Comin right up" he said as she finished writing down our drinks.

"Thanks, Pat!" I said as she walked away.

"So, Ari. We need to figure out a plan."

"And what plan is that?" I ask.

"The plan where I sneak into your room tonight." he smirked and leaned forward on the table.

I sigh and smile "As much as I would love you to, I really don't think there's any way for you to even make a move without making a creek."

"Then you sneak into mine. Since you know what makes a sound." he whispered.

"Shh" I said I looked behind him to see my dad coming towards the table.

"Did you guys order?" my dad asked taking the seat across from me.

"We just got drinks, she'll be back in a minute." I replied.

"Ok then." My dad then began to question Nikki's line of work without sugarcoating them either. I don't think I have ever been so uncomfortable in my life, but to be fair, I did get some insight on Nikki's life so I didn't have to find out the hard way. Nevertheless, Nikki's face became so pale during the interrogation that I thought he was going to pass out from the fear of my father. Once my dad eased up from the more intense questions, they began talking about more likable things. Nikki spoke about the times when he was younger, like fishing and hunting with his grandfather. He even mentioned the time he got a bunch of birds and almost gave his grandmother a heart attack, since he didn't know about her serious fear of birds. I sat back and enjoyed my food while they exchanged experiences. It was like watching a suspenseful movie that had no idea when shit was going to go wrong.

After closing out, we headed back to the house. Since it wasn't too late Nikki and I decided to play some card games in my sister's room, since it was easier to see from the living room. And he made sure that the door was halfway open the entire time. By midnight I could hear my dad snoring. Nikki and I continued to whisper but then settled down under the covers. "You know I can't stay in here all night" I said causing him to tighten his grip around me.

"Shhh, don't ruin it" he whispered. I smiled and dug my face between his neck and shoulder. I slowly fell asleep in his arms but was waken hours later by a sudden twitch from Nikki. I checked to see if he was awake but he was sound asleep. I slipped out of bed and crept my way into my own own. Around 9 am I woke up to the sound of a chainsaw coming from the front of the house.

I decided to get up and make myself look presentable before waking the beast. When I walked in I saw a very sleepy boy who looked so peaceful. Me being me, I needed to ruin that. I slowly sat down on the side of the wall ready to wake him up. I started rapidly shaking him "Hey you need to leave my husband's home!" I said with concern. Nikki arose from the dead and got up, struggling to put his pants back on, and fell over trying to do so. I busted out laughing as he gained consciousness of what was actually going on around him.

"That's not funny Aria." Nikki said standing up.

"You're right. It's not funny, it's hilarious. But I see you had an immediate instinct to run" I smirked.

"If I had a penny for every time someone has woken me up because a boyfriend or husband got home- you know what, I'm not even going to tell you." he said getting dressed.

"How many windows have you had to jump out of because of the scenario?" I ask.

"More than I'd like to admit." he gave me a peck on the lips and then walked out of the room. I followed him to the kitchen and offered him a cup of coffee.

"So what are we doing today?" he asked. I looked at him with an evil grin, waiting for him to remember himself. It took him a second "No.. were you serious?"

"Yep." I smile. "Now tie your hair back and get cookin'." I walked out of the back door expecting him to follow any second. I walked my way down to the boat house and waited for Nikki while I sat in the cushioned lawn chair we have inside the boathouse.

"Whoaaa, would you look at this baby" Nikki said walking around the door.

"And this is my even better baby, the Donzi" I smile. "Careful stepping over the rails."

"This is fucking sweet" he said walking around.

"I know" I smile "I didn't mean that to sound bitchy but I love this damn thing."

"I should fuck you on the back of this." he slid his finger across the side of it.

"Well, that's certainly on the fuck-it list."

"The what now?" he asked with a laugh.

"Ya know bucket list... fuck-it list. Ya know... like sex" I grinned.
Nikki laughed "I-" he paused and cleared his throat but never said anything but just smiled as looked at all the other shit we have stored in here. "Is this fridge stocked?"

"Nope. We need to go to the store and pick up a few things. Booze is at the top of the list."

He closed the minifridge door. "I agree."
